Super Black Eagle II, 26" or 28"?????

Troop

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy my first Benelli. I know I want the Super Black Eagle II Comfortech and noticed they make a 26" and a 28" version. Has anyone been able to pattern both? The gun will primarily be used for waterfowl hunting. Those of you with some experience shooting this gun in both the 26" and 28" barrels, what is your recommendation and why?

Thanks.....

Many, many discussions here on barrel lengths.

Benelli offers different lengths because opinions and needs vary.

Many shooters like shorter lengths when hunting in blinds or heavy cover. Just as many others like longer barrels for their increased sighting plane and smoother follow through on the range and in the field.

Using equivalent chokes and loads, a 26 and 28 will pattern the same. Barrel length does not affect pattern density the way it used to.

You can view several informative videos here.

Go for the 26".

I just bought Benelli SBE II 26" and that's what everyone else I know shoots. It's right between 24" and 28" so it's a perfect compromise.

Like they said above, it's better for being in tight quarters liked blinds. Now a longer barrel will give you better swing on shots.....but not that much better.....especially if your a good shot. So I suggest getting a 26".

I've used mine for duck, geese, pheasant, and grouse hunting, from lay down blinds in open fields to close quarters in dense hardwoods, to cornfields, so it works great. That's what I'd get.
