Hello all, In the process of taking delivery of my first Benelli, an H&K SBE. Will probably have a ton of questions, could you please bear with the new guy? :)

Deer season opens here in Delaware later this week, the new gun is gonna hit the ground running. Hoping that Barnes Expanders shoot well... If they don't, I'll just have to spend some extra trigger time with her... ;)

Welcome to Benelli Forums. You will get all the help you need here. Be specific if you have any issues or questions and you will get the answers much quicker!

Put in some range time this week and make sure shes on before taking her out and remember to do some sharp angle shots if you plan on hunting from a tree stand because I have noticed shotguns give an optical illusion and you will hit under the deer, which is odd because out of a tree stand you usually hit high on a deer. Just take a few sharp angle shots to make sure she hits where you want! Good Luck out there!

Happy Hunting!:D

Hopefully she'll sight in quickly. If you are using 3" sabot's, they will kick the snot out of your shoulder. If you can, put something really cushy between the buttstock and your shoulder or you'll be purple the next week in that area.

Clean your barrel bore every 5 shots or so to remove the plastic wad residue if it gets built up.

Keep an eye on the wind and don't let it think you are shooting either left or right. You'll go crazy and your shoulder,(again) will be pissed also.

You have a point with wind, but never sight in a gun free standing...You will never know if it is truly on or not. Use a gun rest/bench for your pattern tests and if you are using a red dot sight this is extremely crucial.

Once you know your gun is on, you can then move to free standing, knee, prone, angled shots, and any other shots that you may see in the field.

Pattern test for sure but make sure she is on BEFORE going out!!!!!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the welcomes! Nah, been shooting a 12 ga H&R Ultra Slug for the last 8-10 yrs, with 3"ers. That'll kick the snot outta ya! This one will be a welcome change for these old shoulders!

We can put a man on the moon, but we can't make sabots that don't leave a plastic trail behind or cost less than $4 a pop ! Rant over...
