crofton
Here they come! "As you know, the President directed the Attorney General to form working groups with key stakeholders to identify common-sense measures that would improve Americans' safety and security while fully respecting Second Amendment rights," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Thursday. http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/07/07/six-months-after-tucson-shooting-white-house-readies-gun-control-stance
tucker301
I've seen this on several boards, but no one give specifics. So I'm not sure exactly how we're supposed to react until we know what it is that's being proposed.

So I'm not sure exactly how we're supposed to react until we know what it is that's being proposed. Coming from those who say... "We Have to Pass the Bill So That You Can Find Out What Is In It" ...we may not receive specifics. I contend it's not "how" or if we react, but more that we demonstrate we are on guard. It is not his intention to do it through legislation. That much we already know. So your quote is moot.

The WH Press Secretary stated; " it's possible the review underway at the Justice Department could produce legislation". None. He can't even get the Congress to agree to pay for our debts. Until he issues the executive orders he has alluded to, we know nothing of his plans. hattles
An EO should be moot also, but a Presidential Executive Order, whether Constitutional or not, becomes law simply by its publication in the Federal Registry. Congress is by-passed. "Congress needs to take more effective action to check presidential usurpations of legislative power and restore the constitutional structure of government." It is clearly up to us, we the people, to keep watch and make sure that Congress does their due diligence in protecting "we the people". When the Constitution of the United States was framed it placed the exclusive legislative authority in the hands of Congress and with the President. Article I, Section 1 of the United States Constitution is concise in its language, "All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives." That is no longer true. The Bill of Rights protected Americans against loss of freedoms. That is no longer true. The Constitution provided for a balanced separation of powers. That is no longer applicable. Perhaps it can be summed up succinctly in the words of arch-conservative activist Howard J. Ruff. "Since the enactment of Executive Order 11490, the only thing standing between us and dictatorship is the good character of the President, and the lack of a crisis severe enough that the public would stand still for it."
