Benelli M4 Multi Rail vs Surefire vs Agency

It’s a pet peeve I feel a tactical shotgun should absolutely have a light. I was lucky to find a M4 Gen 2 with the new proprietary rail among other features. However, Benelli makes no accessories so you must add picatinny sections provided to mount to it. It’s well made, but heavy and just inconvenient. I personally like the feel of the plastic hand guards more. In any case, I have heard complaints about literally every rail out there except the Surefire which is  a little lighter than this rail, but discontinued. I do care about tool-less field stripping of the shotgun and the rail should fit correctly. These guns have been around over 20 years, surely there are some quality options out there? Photo of my shotgun as it sits… RMR and scallerworks mount on the way.

Here's some discussion on my thread about the Agency rail. I really really disliked the Midwest Industries rail, although the function was there. Takedown was too difficult and required set screws that did leave marring on my titanium mag tube.

I'm back with the OEM handguards, but I'm probably going to head the Agency route soon.

RX Arms is also coming out with a highly anticipated heatshield / MLok rail, but there isn't a solid ETA on it yet.

Yeah, the Agency rail looks even more complex than the MI rail after watching some videos on them. I think I’m going to stick to the Benelli multirail until I see anything better come out.

Have you considered the Briley rail? I keep seeing people talk about the Benelli rail or the Agency and the MI, but why isnt the Briley ever added to that list? I have the 13" Briley on my M4 and it is awesome. What do you think about it?

Totally agree, I have both sizes. fits snug, m-lok compatible and acts as a heat shield.

Can you post some pics I would love to see yours.

I just don't understand why Briley keeps getting forgotten.

I am out of town at the moment but here's 2 I took a few years ago. I cerekoted it "bazooka green". The 2nd one is showing the top. This is the long one, the exact length escapes me at the moment.

I need to get around to my project solution similar to this. I am trying to get a Tri-Rail attachment 3D printed to fit snug to the OEM handguard, it will be screwed down similar to yours. Think of the Tri-Rail attachment on Benelli MR1 or Beretta CX4, basically that. Has anyone ever tried to "weld" the 2 L/R handguard pieces together? Kind of thinking of doing that as well.

I love my Midwest Industries M4 rail too. Might as well toss that one into the mix. It is a great rail, very solid and looks great in my opinion.

This one from MidwayUSA for $183?  971349.jpg?imwidth=680

I love this! Great write up too. To my understanding the multirail and this older rail are easily hot swapped too. I really love the near stock looking Surefire rails too, but holy cow they’re expensive.

My friend put one on his MAC clone and likes it. I was avoiding it solely because I don’t like how much work it takes to take it off for cleaning and put back on. The factory rail just slides off, because it’s wedged on and tightened when you tighten the magazine tube nut.
