R1 Comfortech in .308?

Is is possible to buy an off-the-shelf - or retrofit an existing R1 in another caliber through barrel or stock/forend changes - into an R1 in .308 with Comfortech?

According to the Benelli catalog, .308 only seems to be offered in walnut.

I've asked several dealers about how to effect such a conversion, but can't seem to get a clear answer as to whether it's possible, and if not, why not.

Thanks in advance for helping to clear-up my confusion!
