  2. Update: I was able to get it in! I pulled the charging handle back further (as much as the gun allowed me to) as I was inserting the barrel and it clicked into place. I am not sure if that technique is known (or recommended) by M4 owners but hope it helps for those that are struggling to assemble the gun in the future.

  3. You mean like maybe you bent one or both of them? I wouldn't think so. Do they still slide back and forth normally? How do the exposed portions of them look to you? Also remember, there are channels in the receiver that the pistons need to slip into when inserting the barrel extension into the receiver. The receiver is aluminum and the pistons are steel so I would think that if anything got buggered up, it would be the receiver but, don't go there yet.
