  1. When I replaced the M4 factory rail with the Scalarworks for my RMR the factory screws came out easily. Just make sure to use the correct size hollow ground screwdriver to avoid stripping the screw heads.

  2. Of course! At the end of the day, you’ve got to set up your weapon the way that it’s going to be most practical for you. In my case, because I run the stock in the middle position, I would not be able to get good sight picture (I’m also, shall we say, vertically efficient at 5’6” ?). Scalarworks makes great stuff and the RMR is a solid optic (have one on my Glock!).

  3. DFWSFO, Just wanted to offer my sincerest thanks for your help and taking the time to post on this subject and offer an alternative. I appreciate your willingness to spend some time and trying to help me resolve my concern. Thank you. I decided to go with the ScalerWorks mount and the RMO6. My M4’s primary role is home defense and although I don’t like the co-witness view it just seemed to make more sense given my desire to have the iron sights readily and immediately accessible In the event of an (albeit rare) optic failure.

  4. Yeah, this was back in the late 90's. I initially went to Vang Comp who advertised doing his magic on Benelli barrels but the barrel itself was actually made by GG&G. I sent them my factory 14" barrel, they fabricated a thicker barrel, threaded it for chokes and attached it to the barrel extension. (as an aside, I requested Benelli threading but they messed it up and threaded it for RemChokes - not that big a deal - I think they were fixated on 870's at the time) It's my understanding they no longer build barrels. I can't recall how much I paid. If I had waited a few years, the FliteControl wads would basically negate the need for chokes. I now have a cylinder bore choke in it and the Federal Tactical loads with the FliteControl wads pattern tighter than other pattern of choke/ammo that I've tried.

  5. Thanks SD! @FJCowboy because I think he had a similar question on a different thread.

  7. 15,000 rounds later and a mix of Nickel Boron and NP3 plated parts with a surface layer of burnt bronze Cerakote. Due to the ongoing crisis, I decided it would be a good time to clean the M4. I have just been shooting more oil in to the M4 for the past two years or so. It's ate about 2,500 rounds in that period of time without any failures. I decided to delete the iron sights from my M4 since they obstruct the view of the optic. My Intellibeam weapon light is off being painted for the past month or so, so I'm roughing it with my 500 lumen M600C head that was painted previously. The bolt carrier group and trigger group is all NP3.

  8. I'm a new member and wanted to say hello. I own a M1 Super 90 (bought new in the 1990's) and just bought a M4 LE, the 11721 with collapsible stock and 7+1 mag tube. I just got the IWC light/sling mount for the mag tube with a Surefire M300C Scout and IWC QD sling socket for the stock. I've been doing a lot of reading and there is lots of good info here. I'll learn a lot and hopefully contribute. Thanks

  9. StrangerD is not kidding! I’m into mine for $2300 and I’m just getting started! I will admit that it is money well spent!! Crazy fun! Last month I spent 98% of my weasel sack on my M4!! The rest.... I just wasted!! ?

  10. A M4 was issued to me while in the US Navy and attached to 5th Fleet in 2002; best shotgun I had ever used - reliable, accurate, good trigger, and well balanced. I bought my civilian M4 in 2012 and by 2013 had completed several 922r compliant upgrades.
