Re: Taran Carrier (lifter, elevator, whatever) I've put TTI's carrier in several of my guns and was going to do it on my M4. However, like you, it hasn't bitten me yet. The pic below shows why (IMHO). Left is M1/2(I can't remember which) with a TTI. Right is M1/2 with factory carrier. Middle is the M4. The factory M4 extends further into the loading port and the shape of the tip is different than that of the factory M1/2. The M1/2 will definitely grab your thumb during a hurried standard reload. There's not as much room between the end of the M4's carrier and the front of the receiver so the thumb-bite, I've found, is much less likely. Hence, I didn't see the need to change it out. But that's just me.

Hecc yeah I am interested. What prevents the newer Limbsaver Airtech from going on the aluminium stock? Is it the recoil tube extends too much into the stock?

Those paddle bits are going to try to walk on you in a hand drill. The Forester bit will do the same, but not as bad. You might have better luck with the hole saw bit since it drills the center hole out first to hold the bit centered. Even putting grease on the end of the receiver extension should transfer to the buttpad fairly well. I find the Sharpie to be the easiest though. Seems you got the philips bit sorted. You definitely don’t want to use a magnabit type driver. It’ll get stuck in the rubber hole.

A guy could probably steal some of his wife’s old lipstick and lightly coat the recoil tube end, install the buttolate and collapse it allowing the lipstick to transfer to the pad. clean up is easy using gun solvent, alcohol or any other solvent
