  1. The OEM spring is kind of junk. They take a set pretty quickly which reduces spring tension. When I first got my M4, I had a hell of a time with my spring causing the firearm to not want to load the last round in the tube onto the shell elevator. Took me forever to trace the problem to the spring. My personal favorite spring is the carriercomp one. It is made by Wolff to their specifications. It requires very little to any trimming to fit seven rounds. I'm using the same spring I put in over a decade ago without any issues.

  2. They’re also expensive and the aftermarket units are as good or better.

  3. It's pretty easy. Just remove the BCG and trigger assembly then unscrew the current stock from the receiver extension (buffer tube). The field stock will screw onto the receiver extension -- no tools required. The challenge will be to get the new stock perfectly lined-up against the receiver as you tighten it down so the trigger guard will drop into place easily. The butt pad can be swapped out by using a medium size Phillip's head screw driver inserted into the fine slots in the butt pad. The screws will remain captured in the pad. You might want to use a little Vaseline or spit on the screw driver head to make insertion easier. That last line is good advice for many applications!

  4. The problem you will run into the OEM 7 round tube is the 922R compliance issues. Thats why so many of use have changed out several part to US made parts to stay 922R compliant.

  5. Hi everyone, Posting the reply I received from Benelli USA with the following recommendation: The brass does mark the ejection port. You can take some OOO Steel Wool and gently rub the spots with a drop or two of oil. This helps and not as noticeable. Great customer support and very quick response from Wayne Randall at Benelli USA!

  6. I got my tube recommendation from here and will also recommend http://www.davesmetalworks.com/m4.html. The tube was $75 when I got it.
