  1. Hey Tucker301 - mind your own beeswax!

I have been in contact with Benelli CS for 15 years now, and they have never minded me giving out their COMPANY e-mail addresses in the past.

Even Benelli's own folks give out their COMPANY e-mail addresses here.

Maybe it's the $8,000 or so I have spent with Benelli over those years!

Benelli may need a cage-rattler like Tom every now and then, and I think that can be a good thing if done correctly.

If we hadn't stirred the pot a bit about new items, I wouldn't be saving $200 a month for the new Cordoba!!!

    Gotta love Benelli!!

  2. Ok ok ok ok - you are mad - we get it.

Here is my list of issues:

    1) What does your yellow warranty card say about wood parts? Mine all say that wood parts are not covered under the warranty. That being said, Benelli did replace a cracked wood stock on my SBE way back in 1992 at no charge. The new stock had a metal band tapped in. The same stock is now cracked even with the metal band and Benelli recently told me to pound sand when I asked for a new stock. I said ok, after all, the stock is now 13 years old, lasted 15,000 rounds, and I have a synthetic set on the gun now anyway! Wood parts are notoriously hard to get warranty repair work done on - I have had many fights with Browing as well on this issue.

    2) What caused the stock to swell and split? It is usually from getting dunked. My wood stock got wet on the first day out in 1990, swelled a bit, and never went back to the original size. Maybe yours is bad wood though, I don't know.

    3) The little section you quote is just a part of the Benelli warranty that is noted on the website, not the complete card.

    4) What was your point in giving the CS lady a hard time? She said they don't have the part yet, what were you trying to achieve by continuing to blast her? Do you think she really had the part in a desk drawer and was just withholding it from you to be mean? Do you think she is the stock carver for Benelli? If your daughter worked at Benelli would you want some guy hassling her like you did?

    5) Nice first post. Too bad you were not a regular member before you decided to get on here and vent. You have little credibility IMHO because you apparently only came here to b itch. The big red header says to direct all CS comments directly to CS! This forum is more for Benelli owners to exchange info.

    6) The simple fact is that the part is not available. It happens. You do not get to decide what is a reasonable period of time to wait, it is a manufacturing issue. It can certainly be your opinion, but that's about it.

    7) I think the Craig she is referring to is Craig Johnson. I recall he was sort of the leader of the CS team. I have had some luck, not much, by contacting him directly at; [email protected].

    8) If you got an RA # for a warranty repair, then I think you should be able to enforce that against Benelli regardless of the wood clause in the warranty card.

You can search here for all sorts of other Benelli e-mail addresses, but they all have such specific titles that they may not be able to help.

    Good luck!

  3. There was a discussion on the Ducks Unlimited message board (of all places) by a guy from Utah who claimed that Benellis were actually one of the slowest combat guns around and prone to malfunction when used by the fastest combat shooters.

He was pushing for Benelli to stop the "false advertising" and cease using the 'fastest cycling' claim.

This guy even beat up Tom Knapp on his site about the matter.

Well, it turned out the guy was correct. The fastest shooters are getting the best times from the Winchester X2 in 3". The very best 3-gun shooters can pull .11's with this gun without malfunction.

These same shooters could only muster .13's with the Benellis they were testing. Any faster and the gun malfunctions just as you are describing; the hammer follows the bolt down and the gun ftf. BTW - the big bolt handles actually slows down the rate and contributes to the ftf problem.

The guy was being kinda a jerk, but his facts were good, so there was not much anyone could say.

Pretty good article about the whole thing at Winchester's website.

  4. You probably won't see a ComfortTech on the M1 because the M1 is essentially discontinued in favor of the M2.

I'd like to see much better camo on all guns. Someone needs to figure out how to permamently adhere or etch camo so it does not flake, fade, rub off, etc.

I'd like to see much more from Benelli in the way of accessories like Gel Pads, custom parts, etc. like Beretta has.

As for new guns, it sounds like 2005 is already going to be a banner year, so I can't really think of anything that is missing right now.

  5. I added the recoil reducer to the stock of my SBE - it helps some.

You can try all the other methods mentioned.

One thought, before you sell the SBE, shoot a buddy's pump or O/U - you will then feel what recoil really is.

You may want to think about a LH SBE II, but that may not be good for you either.

You are only left with a gas-op semi-auto.

I shoot and like the Browning Gold Series. Some folks like the Beretta semi-autos.

    Good luck,

  6. Benelli ports the Super Sport and Sport II, so I can assume that some Benellis can be ported in some manner.

I hunt with a guy who shoots a Sport II. I can assure you that that porting causes a great deal of noise for the person standing next to the gun!

I have heard about porting Benelli issues, but have never heard or read a verified complaint about cycling problems due to porting.

From the above replies, it sounds like it can be done without problem.

  7. Many, many, folks shoot the Monte & M1 20 ga in South America.

If you can wait for the new Monte in 20, I do not think you will be disappointed.

But of course, the Beretta will be softer shooting.

  8. There is no camo Monte now, hence my use of the words "I am going to wait".

There were camo Montes in the past, but they were merely camo film over wood.

Nelli Girl just told us the Monte would be Crio in 2005, so that part is covered.

Nelli Girl also told us about the new all-black Cordoba with a synthetic stock that will look like a SS.

The SS has the long Monte forearm, so it appears that they will be making the Monte style stock in snythetic for the first time.

I am hoping that they will allow the Monte to sport the synthetic stocks soon.

Maybe the Cordoba will get camo? If so, that might be my next choice. Or I can dip the Cordoba?

I have shot many Montes and M1/M2s. They feel very different to me. (I think I have shot almost 20 Benelli models total)

The M1/M2 is a beefy frame with bulky forearm. The rib is very high. The gun is in no way smooth and graceful, but great for waterfowling with gloves, etc.

The Monte is a smooth graceful machine. The receiver is less bulky and the long forearm is thinner and very comfortable to grip. The rib is dead flat.

They are very different guns from a shooters standpoint.

  9. If you don't shoot 3.5" ever, then the M2 is the way to go.

I go some years w/o ever firing a 3.5" from my 2 SBE's, but then there are some years like this one, where the weather dictates what I shoot.

For whatever reason, my SBE's really shoot the newer fast 3.5" Federal steel shot shells really well. They cycle well and pattern well. I hunted Sunday in a 20 mph wind, and the 3.5" shells were very effective.

Now, all of this 3.5" is pretty much moot if you decide to shoot Hevi Shot or Matrix. With those two, I cannot imagine when a 3.5" shell would really offer much more than a few extra pellets.

I am going to wait for the new Monte Crio in synthetic camo.

  10. Hi Nelli Girl,

Let me tell you how great it is to get a reply from someone who actually works for Benelli and is allowed to talk!

You guys have been suspiciously quiet on this board lately, which is too bad. I am sure you are under some legal obligation to limit your replies, but it still is unfortunate that your participation is so severly limited.

My information comes from via a manufacturer's rep group that represents Beretta Holdings companies. As you well know, in some areas, like here out west, the rep group decides what dealer gets to carry what Beretta Holdings product.

They give many reasons for why a particular dealer can or cannot carry a given line. While they dole out Beretta to everyone, they are far more selective on who gets Benelli. Their reasons involve matters of inventory levels, fair trade, etc.

Given that everyone has Beretta, and many are denied Benelli, the current buzz is that the new Beretta items like the X II are so revolutionary and functional that the dealers do not really need Benelli as badly as they think. Then they add in all the comments about how hard it is to get Benelli accessories versus Beretta, complaints about Benelli issues, etc.

Pretty hard to argue with a dealer in favor of Benelli when the there are so many factory options for Beretta products, like all the pre-fit Gel pads my dealer has in stock, and you can't get a new pad for a SBE II until May of 2005!!!

Add in that Benelli gets slammed here and in the field by every noodlehead that can't hold the gun firmly, and you have a recipe for this current Beretta love fest.

Just passing on the current buzz from the reps that market your product!! Gotta love sale reps......

My only question to you is; would you have replied on all the great new items if I had not passed on the info I have been hearing?......

  11. From what I have heard, much of Beretta's (Benelli parent) marketing is going to be focused on the Xtrema II and other Beretta products. Sales on Beretta products are just so strong.

The Xtrema II is essentially a pure Benelli product with Beretta's very solid marketing features.

I am guessing this is the beginning of the end of Benelli. I would expect to see Benelli phased out by 2010. I am sure it will remain embedded in the Beretta line though.

Expect little new from Benelli from here on out.

  12. Reasonable is not the standard - reality is.

I see used SBE's for $700 or less all day long with no takers.

They will be under $800 NIB after duck season in my area, if there are any left.

A used SBE, after duck season, will be be lucky to fetch $600.

Just since my last post, NIB black Xtremas have dipped to $699.

I hear the new Xtrema II has the Benelli bolt and the ARGO system like the M1014. We'll see it at the SHOT Show.

  13. Don't see a post about 100's of Nova awaiting repair at Benelli.

Has there been a recall? Is there a letter circulating from Benelli? I have several friends that own Novas - two of which I bought and sold to them - so I need to know about a recall ASAP!

I see a post about a barrel obstruction, but no general posting about 100's of Novas being returned to Benelli.

Please provide verification of the recall.

    Just checking,

  14. I have been doing all of the above since 1992.

    Very good advice.

I also use a cleaning rod attached to a drill and put some steel wool on the brush. A little metal polish can really keep the guide tube smooth.

I really hate all the "A $1500 gun should not need any service" crap.

A gun is a tool. Tools need to be cared for properly to ensure good function.

I hunted with a gun shop owner yesterday who stated he really hated Benellis. His reasoning was that they needed to be cleaned!!! He said his customers are looking for a gun that never needs to be cleaned or oiled!!!

I don't want to be within gunshot range of anyone who doesn't clean their guns!!!!!!

  15. I hear May 2005. The 2005 SHOT Show could be the debut.

Apparently, many problems with the Xtrema led Beretta to make II version.

I have seen black Xtremas going for $749 NIB.

    mudhen - CA

  16. With the official announcement that the SBE (version I) is discontinued, brand new black SBE's with full warranty are running $899 here now.

One gunshop promises $749 if he has any left over after duck season.

Given that most can wait until after duck season, I would value a used black SBE at around $550, maybe lower.

Same for the Beretta Xtrema, they are really starting to dump them to make room for the Xtrema II.

I am going to keep my 2002 SBE. It shoots just fine and I simply won't take the hit just to raise cash for a new gun.
