  1. It has been brought up by a few folks, but not many.

A bunch of Cali guys who shoot a bunch of birds stated that they had not noticed any problems with their SBE II's and M2's.

One has 3000 rounds through an M2 and has never noticed any problem with the trigger guard.

But I doubt they are shooting Win Supremes, a notoriously hot (but very good) load.

Maybe try a pad of some type? Fingerless gloves?

  2. It probably is the plug.

On the Monte, the plug is an aluminum rod that rests under the mag cap.

Mine does not rattle, but if it did, I guess I would wrap the end in a bit of electrical tape and wedge it back in. You will have to pry it out a bit to remove.

  3. I dropped a small buck in Iowa at 88 yards from a freehand rest with the open sights.

The shot was a bit far back, but he went down hard.

The Plats will be dead-on at 90-100 yards.

Be sure to pattern the gun.

    Good luck!

  4. Or you can just push in the shell retaining tab (carrier latch) that hold the shells in the magazine and remove the shells one at a time.

Not everyone can get their fingers in there to do that, so it's not an option for all.

It is exactly that feature that makes the SBE so special. I love being able to take just one shell out. Some Browning Golds have a mag cut-off switch that is good too.

Get a copy of the manual from Benelli. They can be downloaded here as well.

No one should ever fire a gun they don't know how to operate.

  5. Does Wapiti mean 'pain in the arse' by any chance?

If you don't like it here, don't come here.

Benelli will mail a manual upon request - they have to - it's the law in the US.

Benelli will answer the phone and e-mail from individuals with questions.

This place is a forum for members to post and reply, nothing more, nothing less.

You are the weakest link - good bye......

  6. Breakfree CLP - cleans, lubricates, protects.

I like it on the matte finish Benellis because it keeps it black.

Smells bad, but it seems to work.

  7. All the "only shoot 3" if chambered for 3"" is crap.

It is a minor gap before the rifling kicks in.

Shoot 3" if you want, but not because it is any more accurate than 2.75".

Everyone I know shoots 2.75" only.

My SBE prefers 2.75" Winchester Platinum Tips. 3" groups freehand at 70 yards. My buddies like the Winchester Partition Gold.

My rifled SBE did not like the Lightfieds either.

Second best after the Plats were the new Remington Buckhammer. It's all lead, but it is very accurate in my SBE. The Barnes were ok, but nothing special.

Shot a small buck in Iowa, from a sitting position, at 88 yards on Tuesday. He dropped like a stone.

    Good luck!

IMHO, Benelli is trying to offer this forum as an accomodation so their customers can chat amongst themselves. That is exactly what a forum is all about.

It would be fiscally impratical to pay someone to sit on this board all day and anwer questions. It might be nice, but prolly not very cost efficient.

Legally speaking, they should be handling each true customer service request directly with the customer.

  9. They do what they are supposed to do - allow the proper use of high performance sabots.

My SBE shoots Winchester Plat Tips well with the Rhino rifled tube.

  10. I really have good luck with Breakfree CLP.

My SBE matte gets that dingy look with some small rust spots.

I lay the Breakfree CLP on pretty heavy, let it sit for a bit, and then wipe most of it off.

Don't care for the smell much, but it keeps the gun dark and rust free.

  11. I asked them about Benelli, not Beretta.

    Read closely next time.

Beretta already has many prefit pads of their own (Gel-Tek), and many prefit pads from aftermarket companies. Plus, the wire clip pad attachment method on the newer Berettas does not lend itself to aftermarket pads easily.

Browning is way behind in prefit pad options as well. They offer the Hi-Viz in their catalog but only as the grind to fit model.

Locally here a gunsmithed grind to fit will cost $50-$75 + the cost of the pad. That is close to $100 for a pad.

I'll stick to a $29 prefit Limbsaver for now.

IMHO - A prefit aftermarket pad for the Comfort-Tech stock will never happen. The design is too specific to allow for enough sales to justify someone creating a mold for that item.

  12. Here is my take.

Benelli has used aluminum alloy receivers for at least 20 years, so it must be working.

I have a 15 y.o. SBE that has been on maybe 750 ducks hunts, the receiver looks as good as new. So, as to my 15 y.o. SBE, you are incorrect.

Reasons why aluminum alloy is better than steel:

Steel rusts, aluminum alloy does not.

Steel needs to be reblued, aluminum alloy does not.

Steel weights more than aluminum alloy.

The aluminum alloy used by Benelli is stronger than steel.

I could prolly keep writing all day.

Buy the 11-87, it's a great gun, no problems with jamming, ever.......

  13. I contacted HiViz about prefit pads for Benellis.

They told me they had plans for some prefits, but not for Benelli.

They said Browning/Winchester and Remingtom were the bulk of the requests.

As much as we love our Benellis, we are quite a small minority of all gun owners. I would guess not even close to 1% of overall gun purchases are Benellis.

  14. I hear the best aftermarket recoil pad is the HiViz Xcoil. It is cut to fit though, so it will need a gunsmith to fit.

I use the Limbsaver from Simms because it was prefit to the SBE (wood or snythetic).

I also use the recoil reducer from Benelli in the stock of my synthetic SBE - I don't think it fits the wood stock though.

    Good luck,

  15. Pull the bolt handle out. It will be very tight on a new Benelli. I use a needlenose pliers and some cloth to avoid scratches.

Many of us have bruised fingers trying to pull the dang thing out - so don't feel bad.

  16. You have to remove the locking head pin, which is held in place by the firing pin, which is held in place by the firing pin retaining pin.

The trigger assembly is not overly difficult to disassemble, but it's not easy either. I do it once a year and clean out the crud that builds up under some parts. I would think that some sort of spray cleaner would do a fine job especially if you use some sort of canned air to blow out the crud.

If you do decide to take it apart - keep Brownells number handy for replacement parts.....

  17. I should have said www.benelliusa.com forum guys!

    Quoting Chester:

"First thing I noticed was the Benelli Forums have just as many pot-stirrers and complainers as The Refuge. hehehehehe Those moderators have their hands full."

The big issue here for me is that these guys here actually own Benellis.

On the Refuge, I hear a lot of "my buddys SBE jams" or "my Mossy 935 outperformed all the guys in the group", etc.

Here we generally talk about our own Benelli guns, good or bad.

The Refuge is great for general info. This forum tends to be more specific.

  18. Hi Chester,

Welcome to the wonderful world of trying to buy Benelli accessories.

Brownells usually has parts when they become available - I bet their backorder is 6 months too.

They will be available when they are available!

I doubt you will find any on e-bay yet as I don't think any stock gun came with the 14" lop.

Thanks for the nice jabs you took about us Benelli guys over on the Refuge! I will say that at least here you hear from folks who acutally own the guns they are discussing!

  19. ????

No offense, but without more facts, I don't buy your story.

I know we will never know the facts because Benelli will not admit anything one way or another, but it does not sound likely that Benelli damaged your used receiver AFTER refinishing it, and then refused to pay for the repair. They do so much refinish work gratis that I just don't buy your tale.

If you have photos showing the pre-return condition of the receiver and photos showing it post-return, then I will back your story vigorously.

If you have these photos and good records of the work orders, I strongly urge you to file a small claims action against Benelli in Texas. You will likely prevail based on a negligent bailment theory.

    Good luck,

  20. Brownells is the main parts dealer for Benelli.

I would think that the cost of the replacement parts would far exceed a new gun. Stock and barrel will run $600 alone.

I would not even consider rebuilding this gun. Bent parts are just asking for trouble.

Buy a new M2 in camo and move on.
