  1. Matt,

    Be aware that the 3.5” may not be needed any longer due to hybrid shot shells.

    Therefore, you can look at SBEII, M2, Cordoba or Sport2.

    Only you can decide which gun feels more balanced and allows you to quickly sight in on the target.

    Sorry, but any of the choices listed above will suit your needs.

  2. I cannot locate the magazine extensions on Benelli's website.

    Any links to the law/restriction for shotgun capacity? When did this pass?

    I tried Google searching and cannot find anything on the ATF website.

  3. I had disassembled it the night before with no problem other than I can not seem to get the handguards off nor the bolt handle. I had trouble feeding the shells as the chamber seemed very tight. I also could not press the cartridge retaining lever to remove the snap caps I was practicing with. Any help with the above would be appreciated.
    The first several times removing the forearm is going to be tight and slightly difficult. Just apply more upward pressure while turning the forearm back-and-forth. It will come off.

    The solution for the difficult bolt handle removal is to use an old pair of shoestring rapped around the handle one time and pull straight out.

    To ensure the proper operation of the shell carrier, let the bolt slam shut versus easing it closed by hand.

    Glad you enjoy your M2.

  4. Differences between M2 and SBEII that I am aware of are listed below.

    No mid bead (M2) vs. mid bead (SBEII), slope on the receiver vs. a more hump back receiver on the SBE II, the trigger guards are shaped a little differently. Both guns use the same mechanics and barrels.

    When the SBE II is stripped for cleaning, you have access to the trigger mechanism because the top of the receiver is part of the barrel. This allows easier cleaning of the receiver. Also this makes it easier to remove the trigger assembly for cleaning.

    Check the shooting club rules before you spend your time removing the plug. Here is an example of one club listed below:

    • [1]All Shooters must sign in and receive field assignments BEFORE shooting.
      [2]All guns must be kept UNLOADED with ACTION OPEN at all times.
      [3]NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES prior to or during shooting.
      [4]Ear and eye protection is REQUIRED for all shooters and personnel on the field.
      [5]No more than TWO shells (One for Trap singles and handicap) may be loaded at a time.
      [6]Load guns ONLY when on the shooting station and ready to shoot.
      [7]Guns must be unloaded and action open BEFORE leaving station.
      [8]No shot larger than 7 1/2 allowed.
      [9]For safety reasons, hulls on the ground become property of the Club.
      [10]Maximum vehicle speed on Club property is 13 MPH.

    Your gun manual will explain how to remove the plug. However, for shooting trap, skeet or sporting clays, you will not have more than two shells in the gun and in some cases, you are suppose to have one shell in the gun when on station.

  6. Just remember that Sabot slugs are intended for rifled barrels. Rifled slugs are intended for a smooth bore. It's possible to mix them up, but you won't get good results.

    From the Benelli FAQ:

    http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/index.tpl

    Q: What choke should I use for slugs?

    A: A Cylinder choke is recommended for shooting rifled slugs in a smooth bore barrel. Sabot slugs should be shot through our fully-rifled slug barrels.

  7. clayton51,

    Go to your local gun store and try shouldering the 28" and the 26" in the gun model you are planning to purchase.

    I would quickly bring the gun to my shoulder and while swinging the gun to sight something on the wall or ceiling.

    In the end, I felt more confident with the 28" barrel.

    Most of clay shooters prefer the longer barrels 30" - 32" and longer than 32" due to the longer barrel provides a smoother swing of the gun. That is to say, the gun is not "whipy" when aiming.

    Choose the barrel length that allows you to sight better and the gun feels more balanced in your hands.

  8. izzman,

    Give Benelli Customer Service a call and post back their answer.

    The Benelli FAQ does not talk about Hevi-shot. Just steel.

    Q: What choke should I use for steel shot?

    A: Most people find that the Modified choke works best for pass shooting and the Improved Cylinder and Cylinder chokes work well on decoying birds. Nothing is gained by trying to shoot steel through a choke tighter than Modified and we do not recommend doing so.

    I am not saying you should substitute the Inhibitor system with leaving a layer of gun oil on the gun. I am saying use both.

    Go to the Inhibitor link to get the explanation.

  10. (A15) Q. May foreign visitors and other aliens legally in the United States purchase or possess firearms and ammunition while in the United States?

    A. Nonimmigrant aliens generally are prohibited from possessing or receiving (purchasing) firearms and ammunition in the United States.

    There are exceptions to this general prohibition. The exceptions are as follows:

    1. nonimmigrant aliens who possess a valid hunting license or permit lawfully issued by a State in the United States;

    2. nonimmigrant aliens entering the United States to participate in a competitive target shooting event or to display firearms at a sports or hunting trade show sponsored by a national, State, or local firearms trade organization devoted to the competitive use or other sporting use of firearms;

    3. certain diplomats;

    4. officials of foreign governments or distinguished foreign visitors so designated by the U.S. State Department;

    5. foreign law enforcement officers of friendly foreign governments entering the United States on official law enforcement business; and

    6. persons who have received a waiver from the prohibition from the U.S. Attorney General.

    Significantly, even if a nonimmigrant alien falls within one of these exceptions, the nonimmigrant alien CANNOT purchase a firearm from a Federal firearms licensee (FFL) unless he or she (1) has an alien number or admission number from the Immigration and Naturalization Service AND (2) can provide the FFL with documentation showing that he or she has resided in a State within the United States for 90 days prior to the firearms transaction.

    (A16) Q. Typically, who are "nonimmigrant aliens?" [back]

    In large part, nonimmigrant aliens are persons traveling temporarily in the United States for business or pleasure, persons studying in the United States who maintain a foreign residence abroad, and certain foreign workers. Permanent resident aliens are NOT nonimmigrant aliens. (Permanent resident aliens often are referred to as people with "Green Cards").

    The above from the ATF FAQ website:
