I know this is off the Benelli topic but I have not found any answers on any other searches. My dad gave me a Remington 1889 double barrel hammer 12 gauge, it is great condition other than the ear that the forearm snaps onto, between the barrels is broke off and missing. Does anyone out there have a model 1889, where they could shoot a photo and take some measurements? Thanks

I have an M2 Comfort, the recoil in not bad shooting 3" pheasant loads, if the price is right on the M2 American, you might be able to put a Sims or Hiviz pad on it to reduce the recoil more. I put a HiViz on a Citori and it made a world of difference.

Do you shoot or have the need to ever shoot 3.5" shells? I you ever have the need to shoot 3.5" than the SBE II is the way to go. If you dont have a need to 3.5" than which ever gun fits you best.

I shot a Browning Citori for upland game for many years, my dad has carried the Citori Lightning in a 24" barrel for 20 years. No rust no trouble.

If it is legal to shoot lead, shoot it and bring the non toxic shells back with you. In the pre ban lead days, #6 pheasant loads through a full choke were more than lethal.

I already see where this one is headed.

I am good for $300, to pay his fine for a month so he can fly his flag. My grandfather was a W*** vet and my son-in-law to be, is a C-130 pilot, they and others have more than earned the right.

What a nice gift! I own both a M2 and SBE II, the M2 is my upland gun. The M2 is a great gun, shoots field loads without any trouble, very reliable, lighter than other brands of semiautos that makes it easy to walk all day without trouble. That said the SBE II is all the M2 is, but a little more gun, shooting 3.5". Which to choose: It all depends what you are going to hunt, what you like, what fits you and what you want pay.
