I have the 20 ga ultralight and it is jam up!! One of my favorite shotguns. I mostly squirrel hunt in the East Texas woods and it is a pleasure to carry. Does kick a bit more than a heavier gun, but it is still a pleasure to shoot a round of skeet now and again. My only complaint about owning fine shotgun is that you will never want to go back to a cheap gun!!! Doc

I liked the 12 so much I got the 20 also. All I have ever run is cheap WalMart trash ammo. Never had the first hiccup out of either one. OK, I have taken the 12 duck hunting 3 or 4 times, and have shot 3" steel. Dang does it kick . Doc

Within 10 yds, you pretty much just have a big slug of lead. That is the reason that you CANNOT just point and pull. You really should aim. You most certainly can miss with a shotgun at close range if you panic. If you hit, however, you hit with a sledgehammer. Doc

Had my first good round with the 20ga Ultralight. Got to run about 100 rds through it. Cheapo Federal Wally World stuff. First off, this is a BEAUTIFUL shotgun. I really like the stock. Fit and finish is flawless. Metal is beautiful. I fell in love with the 12ga UL, so when this was released, I had to get on the list. I had no malfunctions of any kind. Every round fed, fired, and ejected flawlessly. I didn't clean it beforehand. Just pulled a snake through the barrel to be sure it wasn't obstructed, and started shooting. I did not pattern the gun, but it seemed to hit point of aim for me. I dealt some coconuts, coke cans, and a few watermelons some misery. 5.2 lbs (I think), good looking, and shoots like a house afire. What's not to like!! I realize that I need another thousand or so rounds to determine reliability, so I will report back in later, but I am confident it will go well. I really like this little gun. My only caution would be the recoil. My 11 yr old son ran a few rounds through it before I got to shoot it. He loved it. He is not crazy about the 12ga UL. Honestly, I can't tell any difference in the recoil between the two. The 20 is quite snappy!! It doesn't bother me, but it might not be the best choice for a recoil sensitive novice. HOWEVER, it will be a wonderful gun to carry all day. Anyway, that is what I think so far. Anyone else have one of these little beauties? Doc

My son (11yr) LOVES the Ultralight 20. I haven't shot it much yet, but it weighs just a tad under 5lbs I think. He isn't at all intimidated by the recoil. Sure is a sweet little gun!!! My 12ga UL eats anything I feed it. I have no reason to doubt the little 20. Doc I'm sorry, edit to add; 5.2 lbs empty, probably 5.5 loaded.

I have developed a strange obsession for my Benelli Ultralight 12, but I have always had a passion for the 20. Grew up hunting with them. My favorite shotty. Call me pumped up!!! One of my local dealers says he can get a BUL 20ga :D!! Man am I stoked. Hopefully I will be able to post a picture of the fraternal twins soon. Doc

I am still drooling at the thought of one of these little babies, but haven't heard any more in a while. Are they still in the plan for production? Any info at all? Doc

I think Thompson must be a particularly good sponsor as they seem to use an inordinate amount of Thompson guns. That was a real neat episode. Nice to know she COULD stand up to it if the need arises. One could easily end up DEAD from something like that. Doc

I love my Ultralight....in fact, I am seriously considering picking up a second, however, I might caution that it may not be the gun for someone who does not like recoil. It is wonderfully light, and easily carried. It has a beautiful stock, and I really don't see it loosing much value. As a matter of fact, if the dollar keeps tanking, it will probably be worth more in a few years than what you give for it now. Now, as for recoil, with light loads it isn't bad. If you plan to just shoot skeet/coke cans, you will be fine. If you plan to duck hunt with 3" steel, or run any buck or heavy rounds through it, it pops rather smartly. If you plan on using it for self defense, you should practice with some heavy stuff occasionally. Short brass 8's are not what I want to use on 2 legged vermin. My 11yr old son loves the M2 Field in 20 ga, and he doesn't like the UL. He likes to shoot it so much, I can't keep and 20ga shells around here any more!! Sorry to ramble. Doc

Yep, that is the free market at it's best. If you are really so against that, just sell your new M4 for 500 bucks. You will feel good all the way home. No one is twisting any arms. Doc

Yep, I tried to make mine hiccup with light loads. Fired about 100 rounds with the cheapo W-Mart stuff. Never flinched (the gun that is). I also think they are doggin him more because he showed up ranting here without making a call to CS. It is a mass produced weapon. Things get through. Let them handle it. If you get no satisfaction, then MAYBE it is time to go ballistic on the net. Doc

If you missed it, Guns & Ammo TV did a torture test of the Benelli M4, and it was quite impressive. While some may debate the tests, I thought this one was good. They dropped a 20 ga shell in and then loaded a Hornaday slug and pulled the trigger (with all the necessary safety precautions). Well, it was singularly unimpressive. Not only did it stay together, but is shot the slug and the shell out, with no apparent damage. Well, the repeated the test a second time with a 20 ga shell, and a load of Hornaday TAP Buckshot. Well, same result. No apparent damage, functioned normally. I know there are worse things that can probably be done to a gun, but I was quite impressed at the results. Just one more reason for my confidence in this weapon. Doc

I wanted to see if I could cause my M4 to hiccup, so for the first range trip, I bought the cheapest W-Mart special lightweight 12 ga I could and ran about 3 boxes through her........not one problem. Ate all 75 rds as fast as I could feed her!!! No expensive 3" brake in for her. I am pleased, but the targets weren't Doc

Don't ya know it!! I had been watching the same 2 M4's at Bachman Pawn for the last 4 or 5 gunshows, full package, both stocks, etc. 1300 bucks. I figured as silly as the price for the stock had gotten, I might actually pick another one up and part it out (I know, perish the thought) and come home with a M4 for around 500 bucks. Wouldn't you know it, but NO M4 to be found:mad:. Oh well, ya snooze, ya lose!! Doc

I have only recently had the pleasure to shoot my UL. I ran 3 boxes of the cheapo Wal Mart stuff through it without a hitch. Ran like a top. It is a wonderful gun. Points well as it came for me. I ran about 5 3" mag rounds through it to see how it felt , a bit snappy to say the least, but handled it well. Also, it has a 2 round mag, but a 3rd can be in the tube, and a 4th in the space in the receiver (although I haven't been able to figure out how to do that yet, just read about it here). Doc

I would like to try the Trijicon Reflex. I have heard that the amber triangle washes out with bright light, but haven't personally tried it. I do like my EoTech. Doc

Sorry Vinceboy, You can work on YOUR 1400 dollar gun with a drop saw. I will get another choke tube. YMMV however, Doc

Well, it is a '07, but the advertising was at GM. It was printed on the display at the store. My fault for not investigating further, and I am not at all disappointed in the gun. Already picked up a full-choke for geese. Just a minor irritation more than anything, and I kind of got frustrated with CS for the tone, acted like it was my fault. Oh well, cool gun anyhow!! Doc

Yea, don't waste your time with Customer Service over the choke tubes. I purchased the Ultralight that was advertised as having 5 choke tubes, and when I saw only 3, Gander Mountain said I had to call CS. CS basically told me to stick it in my ear. Doc

Yep, Hogwild, I know what you mean. My grandad ate squirrel brains his whole life.............uugghh....no thanks. I have been hunting bushy tails for about 30yrs now, and have an 870 and 2 old Savage 20ga pumps. Wonderful guns, but just want a Benelli. Wonderful thing about America!!! Just cause I can!! Doc
