For home defense fully expect that you will be held accountable, both at civil and criminal law levels, for all 9-12 .30 caliber rounds contained in your 12 ga. "00" buckshot cartridge. One intended target miss and there they go down range thru the housing dry walls, a long way, into adjacent room spaces, your neighbors bedroom, etc. Unless the bad guy is charging into your home, and why would you be there with your loaded 12 ga. shotgun waiting to ambush him? Shooting the retreating bad guy in the back as he is retreating may be tempting at the moment, hope you can afford to defend the local zealot prosecutor on homicide charges. First off, you could throw a firecracker at most home-invading crackers, and they would scatter away like rats. Consider #4 or #6 shot shells for home defense, especially in 12 gauge; more than enough fire power to thwart a rat, and the individual shot will most likely not exit your domicile to harm other innocents. Can't imagine even the rationale for using a slug for home defense. Just as FBI studies have concluded a M4 in 5.56 is safer on interior encounters than their 9mm pistols for over-penetration.
Here's a 18" Winchester 1200 pump ("world's fastest pat 2ump shotgun") training at the elite Rogers Shooting School, using # 6 shot, slamming down head plates at 25 yards......it's more than adequate for home defenses. "00" buckshot is used for final testing, to make the student has acquired proper recoil management. Just sayin'.
You okay, bro?

Yeah, it’s been a topic since I’ve been on this forum (2007).

Not all shells are the same length. Some people buy certain shells for this reason. Some cut a couple coils from their mag spring.

Yes, field stock handles much better for me, too.

Yeah, couldn’t be a thing. Better chance with the Beretta 1301.

Mine were just delivered. They seem fine—no amazing burl or movement, but decent for the price. Will probably keep my Multicam field stock/forends on the gun.

Yeah, nice grain. Mine are due tonight.

First time I've seen one of those screws sheer off. I'd recommend contacting Scalarworks. I'm sure they'd at the very least replace the screw. Do you think you could notch the screw stump so that you can back it out with a flathead?
Looks like the Torx bit sheared off inside the screw recess.

I ordered mine Dec 10th delivery scheduled to arrive the 19th
Me, too, and I’m the one who told everyone about ‘em. 😂

They look nice! On the Benelli M4 group on Reddit some people have posted that the provided hardware doesn’t attach to the OEM Benelli recoil tube. Luckily the hardware from my Mesa Tactical Urbino would probably work.
It’s a bit of a bummer that this stock doesn’t attach like the OEM Benelli field stock (no tools required). Maybe if all else is good about the stock I’ll try to replicate the OEM tool less design.Or maybe this’ll go in my gun gear storage along with my other 2 Benelli M4 stocks.

I bought the fix it sticks (sp?) torque “wrench” and it really does provide peace of mind when messing around with aluminum receivers. Of course, in your example the bit was clearly subpar. But, still!
And every Scalarworks product I’ve bought has been top notch.

Between the comments on Reddit and here, I’m pretty certain this is becoming another missed revenue opportunity for Benelli.

Thx, just grabbed a set from PSA. This is gonna be one of those you say in about ten years, many I wish I had bought those when they were available… you can’t go wrong for $70.
Totally.

Looks nice but aren’t these imported? Worth losing handguard for 922r compliance?
I use other US-made parts to hit my number, so this isn’t a consideration for me.

Been wondering if we’d ever have the option of buying wood sets. These are Panzer Arms from Turkey—one of the clone makers (“Turknellis”) that sells clone versions with these stocks. I wish Benelli made wood furniture for the M4, but it is what it is.
Cheapest right now for $70 at PSA, and also available for $100 at MidwayUSA. Better pics at this site, but they are sold out.
I’ll follow up once my set arrives. If they’re good to go, I’ll likely add QD swivels and a Limbsaver as I did here. If the finish is glossy I’ll probably also use steel wool to make them matte.- 2

Yes, it's beautiful John! I looked up who did the camo job, he's out of Smithville Mo. I'm originally from KC so I know it well. Did he do your loading port also? I might have to give him a call, thanks for posting it!
Thanks—the loading port and bolt release was done by Steve Rose, Rose Action Sports (RAS). He’s a member here and posted in this thread a few posts up.
Brendan at Custom Gun Coatings did the paintwork on the forends and stock. Earlier in the year he did paintwork on a Tikka project for me, too

Go for it—it’s way better this way! You can find Steve a couple of posts up.

Thanks, guys! Love this thing! -
I’ve been on the forum since 2007 and finally bought an M4, new, in 2010. Bought the Carriercomp tube back then, and subsequently used the Sidearmor rail when that was a thing. Got rid of that heavy monstrosity a while ago. Started with the fixed pistol grip stock, and then replaced it with the Mesa Tactical Urbino when that was released. Recently decided the field stock was better for me. Here’s where it’s at now:
TRIGGER GROUP:
OEM aluminum trigger guard (came this way in 2010)
Shooting Sight NiB Benelli hammer
Taran Tactical Accuguide shell lifter
DMW enlarged safety
RECEIVER:
Loading port opening by RAS (Rose Action Sports)
Enlarged circular bolt release button by RAS
FFT Mil Spec Rail
Midwest Industries QD Low Aimpoint T1 mount
Aimpoint T2
RX Arms Benelli M4 Charging Handle Titanium
BARREL & MAGAZINE:
Carriercomp titanium magazine tube
Wolff magazine tube spring
Brownell’s magazine follower
Benelli cylinder choke
Impact Weapons Components Mount LBM41913
STOCK & HANDGUARDS:
Benelli field stock
Limbsaver pad 10403 Benelli
Noveske flush QD mount x 2
Stock and handguards painted in Multicam by Branden at Custom Gun Coatings
Blue Force Gear Vickers sling in Multicam, sewn QD push button mounts
Blue Force Gear Sling Sleeve in Multicam
