The AVA mount is worth the money, IMO. I still have shadowing from the barrel but I don't have an SBS M4.
The wolf spring carriercomp sells is only $12 and is known to function well.
Thank you sir. I should have done a search before asking both questions but I did notice that there are a couple different spring sources. The wolf spring is news to me.
I don't have a SBS M4 either it is the full 18". While I like the apparent multi -function of the AVA system I do not like the idea about the shadowing in all candor. Although, that is probably a small trade off for it's function and durability.

What you seek is the Ava Tactical light mount with a Surefire Outdoorsman body and tailcap, then a 500 lumen Scout light head. It won't interfere with disassembly of the weapon. It's about as light as physically possible. It holds the light in the perfect position for momentary/constant activation.
I should have looked a bit before I initiated a thread because I saw your post on the AVA mount. A bit pricey but I like it and like how the mount is close enough to the end of the barrel so as not to cast a shadow. Thank you very much.
Also, do you have a recommendation on a full length spring for the extended magazine I put on ? Are the ss ones from Brownells worth it or should I go with the Carrier Comp model?

Gentlemen, I have been conflicted as to where to mount a light on my M4(have an M3 also- suggestions?) and have determined to mount a light under the barrel on the mag extension, which I assume is possible.
Does anyone have suggestions as to which rail and perhaps a light as well? While this sounds fairly basic, I am looking for the option which is lightest and least hassle in installation, yet durable to withstand the recoil shock.
I have an Asgard Side Saddle on order, so weight is somewhat of an issue but not a deal breaker.

Don't forget about the M3 S90. It is convertible and w/an OEM mag extension you can easily stack 7+1. It is fairly light too.

Theres your problem.
Spring and follower are unlikely culprits, unless you're running one of those funny Choate followers.
An M4 Full Length 7-round tube will barely hold seven (7) rounds. In other words if something is slightly off they won't fit.
The common 2 3/4 length is nominal. They vary quite a bit. If a shell is 1/8 long it means that 6 shells stacked up are 3/4 inch too long. Generally speaking Buckshot is 'long' and Birdshot is 'short'.
The real problem are the plugged shells. The length refers to the fired length. Stay with me on this. A standard crimped 2 3/4 shell measures out to about 2.5 inches. The plugged shells (like Sellier & Bellot) are not crimped. They measure 2 3/4 unfired, in other words the length of a standard 3 inch shell.
Actually, it may not be the problem b/c I just took the shells out and measured them. They are 2 7/16", plugged , not crimped. So I am still vexed as to why a full seven does not fit in the extension. The only part I changed out was the tube and the seventh round is about 3/8" of an inch too long.

You rock bro, got it. I've read what you have stated but did not realize the measurement applied to the fired shell as opposed to the unfired. The issue is exacerbated by the crimping on the end which I assume the standard Rem or Win are not. I do not have anything but factory the spring or follower in my M4 and wouldn't consider anything less frankly. In either case it seems that the 00 buck rounds are part of the culprit as much as brand then. Thank you sir

I thought about that,perhaps you are correct about the spring or follower. The shells are not Rios which seem to be longer than others. The shells I am using are S&B 00.

Have a full length extension which I bought several years ago from a member on this forum who was manufacturing them. Excellent quality but I am a bit irritated about the fact that I can only get 6 -2 3/4" shells in the extension when I was under the impression it was a 7 shell mag. Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?

Ok, I'm cool with either. The question is what can is the cost? Clearly I have been a part of the forum for some time but post very little. Sorry for the questions but I cannot remember what I paid for the factory extension in all candor. I ma also curious to know if there is an adequate saddle for this weapon, like the sidearmor for the m4/. Thank you all again. I will check PM's if you care to send me one

Just like the title states. Looking for magazine extension source. Looked back through archives but couldn't find a relevant thread. This is a bit embarrassing because I had one but lost the barrel, just have the spring and brace.thanks

FYI
We are currently in the home stretch of finalizing the skeletonized portion. Many members prefer components that DUPLICATE the OEM version rather than merely "approximate" it. For this reason we are getting a quote on a 5 axis billet machined 7075 aluminum alloy clone in lieu of the titanium weldament. Depending on quantities this may reduce the expense.
Per my PM, count me as an interested part too.

THis is actually my second Benelli. THe first was the M3 that I still have. Unfortunately it is too difficult to find accessoties like saddles and so forth. THe m4 is much more common- or was.
Anyway that said what type of sling and sight is recommended for this weapon?
Obviously this might fall within persoanl prefernce but it is nice to hear what works for other folks.

There are legality issues when placing an extension on your M4. Unless you are LE Officer and the weapon is used on duty, BATF will have a canary.
The way around this is to use a US made full length tube, follower and spring. The only experience I have is with the titanium model made by CarrierComp which is Cleefurd on this sight. His workmanship and customer service is outstanding. You can't go wrong with his products. I tried very hard to get them authorized.

Perhaps we are saying the same thing or we just aren't communicating.
Mag extensions are legal, just not by importation from Benelli which I stated. Or any foreign manufacturer for that matter.
I've got one on my M3 which was purchased through a huge FFL here in Texas. So when I asked this question it was with the understanding the extension from a foreign source was illegal.

I know this question has to have been asked before however I would also like to know, aside from waiting period, if anyone has had any negative experiences.
I have also seen some from Magpul but wanted to get input from the folks on htis site first.

No factory collapsible like the M4. If you really want an M3 this would be the one to get.

Have any of you used this extension before?
THe reason I ask is because the after mkt one does not tighten down as far as the one from the factory. Nor are the tubes exactly the same size.
I suppose I need to purchase the fore end cap with this?
I am also a bit concerned that when closed in the shell port or magazine the silver plunger/firing pin is still visible.
IS this normal?

I have a Benelli M3 and am very happy with it. However I do not see many threads or comments about it and was wondering why it is not any more common.
Are there issues w/ it? Those that have it- what has been your experience?
Finally- where is a source for a saddle and is it poissible to fit this weapon w/a collapsible stock? If so is there a source for it?

I have a few M3 questions for ya.
Is the trigger guard plastic or metal?
Is the barrel/bolt-head chrome-lined?
Does the fire-end "rattle" like the Nova, or is it SOLID?
Fixed choke, right? IC? (Does this mean there is no choke and no threads, just a barrel contoured to IC dimensions and chrome-lined?
Do you have the rifle or pistol-grip stock?
Sorry for sidetracking, but I have been thinking about the M4 and overlooked the M3, which I think may be a viable alternative as I would enjoy being able to fire low recoil buckshot and whatnot.

THe trigger guard is metal, not plastic
Chrome
Solid as a rock, no rattle
Fixed choke, chrome lined
Pistol grip w/ ghost ring sights
And finally I have only shot it perhaps a couple down times at most. I have not trained w/ it as yet. Not a mark on it and just a very light coating of oil as it sits in the Homeland Security Dept -ready for deployment-when needed
It is made in Italy not the US although it is not HK, but Benelli.
and finally USNC Warrior I agree w/ you the only thing that suck worse than our gun laws are yours.
However they are correct about one thing:
THe Benelli M3 &M4 look evil b/c they are evil when those who wish to impose such tyranny must look down the business end of one......
THanks for the links guys , I am going to pick one of the extensions up soon. I also believe I am going to take the standard stock off and convert to the collapsible one. I believe that is possible.
