  1. Skeet is fun. Harder to learn than trap, but in my mind, easier to "master."

That's a pretty good round with a pump gun. "Back in the day" a Winchester Model 12 was the gun of choice.

But try Olympic skeet. Its like skeet on crack.

Same field, but with the following modification:

    Targets are faster.

You must use 24 gram loads (a little less than 7/8 ounces, but no limit on muzzle velocity, usually 1350-ish.)

You must start with low (unmounted) gun. Toe of your stock at your hip.

When you call for the target, there is a random, 0 to 3 second delay before the target comes out.

You CAN'T move or mount the gun until the target comes out.

You shoot a high house single and a double shooting the high house target first at stations 1, 2, and 3.

At middle station 4, you shoot 6 targets. A high house single, a low house single, a double shooting the high house target first, and a double shooting the low house target first.

You shoot a low house single and a double shooting the low house target first at stations 5 and 6.

You shoot only a double shooting the low house target first at station 7.

You still have to shoot station 8, low gun, random delay. Its tough.

Haven't done it but watched before. Crazy! But looks fun.

  2. Went out to the Skeet range last night with a buddy. Cold night but fun. Haven't been in about a year and did very well with my Nova. Shot 4 rounds and shot a 24,22,23,19.

My buddy that came out with me was his first time on the field. He was shooting a older Beretta auto and was instantly hooked. He shot 4 rounds as well putting up 12,14,13,16. Not bad for a first timer.

  3. First of all. GO BEARS!!!

Second, Tom is a first class shooter. His movement is way smoother than all the other exhibition shooters. Tom is a well rounded shooter and will do great things for CZ.

  4. Got the emails this morning.

3.5" Super Vinci, Vinci Cordoba, Vinci Supersport, MR1 Comfortech, R1 in .338.

Most of the links in the emails don't work.

Perhaps Benelli should hire some of the weekend spammers to do the website. :o

All the links opened on my ******. Maybe you have faulty equipment. ;)

    Wow!! I can't type I p h o n e

  5. You might consider contacting Rob Roberts at gobblerguns.com

His company does the Benelli modifications for their Performance Shop SBE II Turkey Guns.

Took my M4 to him last week for the "forcing cone" modification and to be patterned for the best choke/shell combination. The results are beyond belief...260 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards using 3" 1-3/4oz Hevi-Shot 13 #6 loads using his choke.

I thought Briley did all the work on there turkey guns.

  6. Which clay pigeon thrower would you recomend if the following things are important?

    Durability

    Easy to move

    Stability

    Price

    Single stack thrower

I am not looking for a machine which can throw 80 or 100 yards most important is that it will work every time and dont break down every second day!

Sorry if my english is not perfect, hope you understand what I am looking for, if not please ask.

    Thanks Stoffer

I like the hand throwers the best. The angle and speed changes on every throw. There 5-7 bucks and they fit in the range bag. I think they make a double one to for 15 bucks.

  7. Yeah. I got that. Shipping is $18.50 and my other coupon is $20.

Can't use both, so I guess I'll just use the one with the biggest payoff.

I have called them with my order and I was able to use my free shipping coupon and 20 off 100. I have called in most of my internet orders lately. You sometimes get a better deal.

  8. Sounds like a decent idea, it would have kept me from posting an off topic topic here  :p

As for your choice of knives, how do you like that Cold Steel? I've read some interesting reviews of Cold Steel products, people using them as pry bars and such with no damage at all, some really unbelievable stuff. Do you think the quality is up there with these kinds of reviews and stories I've read, or is it just that, a story? It has me interested, but not sold on a Cold Steel.

Mine is about 15 years old and yes I've used mine as a pry bar, cut limbs, small sapplings and other cool things.

I can't speak for cold steel now because mine was made with carbon V steel and made in the USA. 4 years ago they move everything overseas.

  9. P.S. Since we are on the topic. I know Benelli doesn't make knives. ( I haven't seen one anyway) I knife section or a sub forum in the big game section would be cool. Just a thought. What does everyone else thing??

  10. I use a Old timer stockman to gut and skin some parts of the deer. For Skinning deer.cleaning upland game, and turkey I use a old timer sharpfinger. I have many knives but these 2 knives serve me the best for the jobs. Both sharpen easy, hold a good edge, all 4 blades (3 on the stockman,1 on the sharpfinger) are full flat ground blades and there about 35 buck for the pair. I don't like spending tons of money on equipment in the field that could get ruined or lost.

EDC is a different story. I carry a Sypderco Endura 4 zdp-189 and the stockman. I also keep a Cold steel 8'' recon tanto in the truck mostly for use of a paper weight to hold all my hunting tags and papers down.

  11. Please excuse my ignorance, but I am trying to determine if the SBE2 can be used for deer hunting. Of course, my barrel is the standard 28" long smooth bore. Is that well enough, or do I need to get the rifled barrel? My problem is that I am left-handed, and I don't think that Benelli offers a lefty version of their rifled barrels. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Try a few slugs with a Cylinder or Improved Cylinder chokes and see if you can get a 3 shot group at 50 yards. Buy about 3-4 different kinds of slugs and compare the groups.

  12. Remover the mag. cap, take some needle nose pliers and remove the black ring with 2 holes in it. Keep your hand over it because its under pressure. Remove the plug and reinstall the ring and mag cap.

    Good to go.

  13. I wasn't aware Coyote's generally rushed people. Every story I've heard paints them as giant cowards that are afraid to do anything without someone else doing it first.

That said, I totally agree that you want backup ... I always am amazed at the amount of stories I hear about people bow hunting that run into bears, wolves etc and don't even have a pistol or something.

They don't rush people. If your a good hunter they don't know your there. There rushing the call. It's what there designed to do. If you do your part, a shotgun is all you need. There not as dumb as you would think. Bobcats and coyotes are some of the hardest hunting. It takes a true skill to get them into 40 yards. Anyone can shoot them out in the open at 400 yards.

As far as backup, many states don't allow "backup guns" such as pistols. If your scared, then don't hunt. If you don't have the skill, then leave it to the men.

    Just saying.
