  1. Hey folks, I have recently began Trap shooting only for the purpose of becoming a better Upland Game hunter. I do not premount the gun when I shoot. The book that I am reading states that in the USA the correct way to Trap shoot is to premount the gun. My question/concerns is: Will I upset the other shooters if I do not premount the gun? Will this effect them in anyway? Thanks for any feedback!

  2. Hey folks, I am new to bird hunting. I am considering the purchasing of an Llewellin Setter for a family pet and Pheasant Hunting. The puppies are FDSB Registered. The Dad’s hips are OFA excellent and the Mom’s hips are good. This is from a very local breeder. I do not know anything more about the dogs and have never trained a Bird Dog. The breeder has several males and females. What should I look for to decide on what puppy to purchase? They are all white with black spots. Any good books or web sites to find information on training bird dogs? Sorry to those of you that are experienced bird hunters this post must seem lame.

    Thanks,

  3. Thanks timb99!

I get it, when I need a choke I just refer to type I want (Full or Improved Modified etc....) and just make sure it can be used with steel. Sure wish I knew that the factory Stoeger tubes could shoot steel. Thanks again for the help and take care.

  4. Thanks for help and information. I am in Michigan and many people from here go out west to Kansas, Dakotas and Iowa to bird hunt. I going to take your advice on choke tubes. So I need to ask the dealer for an Improved Cylinder steel and a Modified for steel? I understand that steel is harder and shoots a tighter pattern. I am confused about how to refer to the choke tubes.

We had a safe hunt and I got two birds. Cannot wait to go again!! This is true fun.

  6. Hey folks, I have a Condor O/U. I am attempting to get ready for my first ever Pheasant hunt. The Pheasant farm requires steel shot #4. I have never shot steel before. I have never bird hunted before. I have shot 800 rounds or so of lead through this gun. Can I start to shot steel? Will I damage the gun? I know that I need to switch the choke tubes. I called the local gun shop and ordered a Modified choke and an Improved Modified Choke for steel. I plan to but the Modified in the bottom (if I understand correctly this barrel fires first) and the Improved Modified in the Top. Did I order the correct size chokes for Pheasant hunting with Steel? Do I plan to put the chokes tubes in the correct barrel location? If understand correctly the Improved Modified Steel is equal to a Full in lead??? Thanks for helping me out!!
