  1. You have a heat gun. The difference between you and a gun smith is he has a strap wrench and a propane or map gas torch. I've helped gunsmiths more than once to do this.
  2. Come on guys that's not wear those are beauty marks. BE PROUD you shoot your guns and don't leave them in the safe. My thumb has put more wear on the chassis loading shells than what you are showing me. In one of the shooting classes I took the instructor told the class look around. Look for the guy with the worn finish on his gun there's a good chance he practices. Or something like that. You get the point.
  3. Try heat and a strap wrench.
  4. Did you check the Benelli parts on line they might have rail.
  5. If you have rifle sites on the gun they would both be mounted on the barrel. If you have ghost ring sites the rear site would be mounted on the receiver. Rifle sites means a trip to a good gun smith. Ghost ring sites might just be trip through the www.brownells.com catalog. If they are rifle sites I think it's going to cost you. Sell the gun and buy the Nova with the sites you want. That would be cheaper for the end result. You can buy a Nove or S Nova with GR sites and then the tritium insert screws into the front site. Most likely not what you wanted to hear. If you find a better way please post it in case this comes up again. Thanks
  6. www.davesmetalworks.com will make them any length you want.
  7. Do you know the difference between a trap shooter and a puppy? Puppies quit whinning when they grow up.
  8. How much extra room do you have after loading the 6th round and not getting the 7th in? Either your follower is binding up on a coil, or your spring is too long. Order a spring from one of the guys on this web site or get a Benelli spring from Brownells. Get a good set of cutters and start chopping the spring. If you screw it up you've got a new one. The only reason the length of the follower would matter is if it is hanging on a coil or it is long enough to bottom it out. I find it hard to believe the follower could be long enough to stuff the entire spring in it.
  9. Gene if you like it then good on you. It just doesn't work for me. My needs must be different than yours. I don't want to bag on your stuff.
  10. For my bank roll I would get a Browning O/U. 2nd choice would be a Beretta O/U. If you have more money get some high end Italian O/U job. O/U shotguns reign supreme when shooting sporting clays. If you have less money get a Benelli/Beretta semi auto. I really like the Beretta family of O/U shotguns but the warranty on the Browning is mcuh better and the Browning is more robust.
  11. If you don't like it there's something wrong with you. I have M1's, M2's,and an M4. I was smart enough to not buy an M3. I shoot my M1 the most flatout bitchen gun. Grab a couple of boxes of some stout stuff and run it through your gun when new. Keep the bolt lubed inside the carrier and light oil on the carrier and rails. Take it out and have fun. I shoot 3 gun and M1's and M2's dominate with a rare M4 in the mix.
  12. M1's were discontinued a couple or 3 years ago. The gun you are looking for is an M2, or an SBE.
  13. When you buy a semi auto shotgun that isn't a Benelli just be prepared for disapointment when the second bird flys by and your "other" doesn't cycle. Benellis need the least amount of maintenance, are the easyest to clean, and will be there when you need it. Buying another semi auto shotgun only adds to the price of buying a Benelli like you should have done in the first place.

    Slugs/Chokes?

Only use rifled slugs if you want to group your gun. As far as chokes it depends on the slug you are using. If the slug doesn't call out a certin size choke then it doesn't matter.
  15. If you are looking for springs then go to www.brownells.com and under factory parts the Benelli P/N is 301-000-115 it is the long spring and cost under 7 bucks. In my 8 round tube M1 and M2 they are just at the extreme length I want I know with your 7 round M4's you'll be cutting coils. Just remember to leave the cut end at the muzzle. The guys on the enos forum are the guys that make the Benellis run at least the M1 and M2. I'm sure if you are using this as a duty gun some of the stuff they are doing would advantages to you and some of the stuff would be out of policy.
  16. Duggan I guess I'd have to agree with you. On cost and functionality. It's a tube how trick does it have to be? I've run his tubes on my Benellis for at least 10 years pretty good service life wouldn't you agree?
  17. You could call the DMW a cheap alternative, I'd call it a wise buy.

    Gun Safes

Some of it depends on where you live. There are the big name brands but there might be a local guy to your area. Shipping isn't cheap on these things. Help the local guy if you can. Safes claim they can hold this many guns don't believe it if you want them to stay ding free. Scopes, bolt, side saddles all take up more room than their numbers mean.
  19. I have a full length mag tube from Daves Metal Works. I think it's around 80 bucks. I haven't put it on my M4 yet. I have been using his other tubes for over 10 years with no problems and they do get beat on a bit. As far as 922r I don't believe the spring is on the list of parts that count for you to change. The full length tube and follower are called out for sure but the spring isn't. It also calls a muzzle device as one of the parts. I wonder if your gun uses screw in chokes if you got a Briley choke you'd be ok. If the gun is a pistol grip stock that cold add another part to the list. I'm not sure on that. This is indeed a federal problem not a California issue.
  20. For what you've spec'd out I'd buy a Browning O/U. I know this is a Benelli site and I do have a safe half full of Benellis but like I said I'd use a Browning O/U.
  21. Ahhh I see all the ones I've taken apart use a 17mm wrench as I recall. How old is this gun? I've heated many a receiver with no ill effects.

    Ammo...

I've run thousands of Estate in my M1's and they've always run flawless. I've run some of the cheap Winchester Super Sports from Wally World and had problems because the crimp was belled.
  23. Heat can be your friend when taking this apart. If it's rusted shut and you have the time then stick it in some WD 40 or whatever your favorite penetrating lube is and let it sit overnight. Get a buddy to hold the receiver and break the nut loose. Also you might heat the receiver and unscrew it from that location.
