  1. Did you remember every member of the family???
  2. I can't even see a pistol target at 50 meters, much less the bullseye:eek:
  3. M1014, sure you have a Limited Edition gun that's numbered 1 of 250. In my mind the odds of having that gun are... 1 in 250! Not too impressive. You know what would be really impressive? Collecting the whole series! Imagine yourself surrounded by 250 engraved Limited Editions, which one would be your favorite? What happens when you own 249 of them and discover Skeeter owns the crowning glory of your collection? Oh the horror...the horror.
  4. I was reading last month's issue of COP magazine and they mentioned "Frangible Buckshot". For LE and Military it was described as a good choice for Close Quarter Combat. The frangible ammo can be used for door breaching as well as lethal engagement of soft targets while minimizing over penetration in places like nuclear and chemical plants. Anyone have any experience? I'm sure everyone will have an opinion;)
  5. Too bad the 1x power binoculars never really caught on.
  6. I carry a Benchmade Mini-Grip every day. I like the axial lock. You can hold back the lock and flick the blade open easily with one hand. I did not like the auto-assist versions. I'm not sure what you meant by Auto, I like the "out the front" autos and I think Benchmade's look great. One of the out the front actions is still on my wish list. In Ohio the laws are not really clear. We used to have blade length restrictions that were not consistently enforced. The "Out the Front" autos and switch blades are supposedly illegal but are for sale at every gun show and shop. I think the current law restricts "Deadly Weapons" so you can buy anything and its not illegal until you use it on someone...so technically pen knives and sporks could be illegal.
  7. I wonder how long of an extension tube you can add before you are in danger of shooting the end of it off with the pattern spread?
  8. Has anyone tried a 7/32" English wrench? It's only about .003" different from 5.5mm and that may make a difference. Different manufacturers may have different tolerances for the opening. I think someone mentioned Snap-On earlier in this thread. I have used their tools to remove nuts, bolts, and screws that were mangled by cheap tools. Don't be fooled by the Europeans. I was in France and checked out a hardware store. The most common pipe fittings were 12.5mm (we call it 1/2"). There were a lot of bastardized mechanical things that are actually sized by the old English standard but given metric equivalents. I have not checked recently but my Jap cars still had English lug nuts and battery cable bolts.
  9. I found a holster for the Swiss Mini! Sure there may not be much stopping power...but you will have the element of surprise! While the bad guys are ROFLTAO at your gun. You can quick draw and get a bead on them (it does have better sights than a Ruger LCP). Shoot them right in the eyeball...and hope they are not wearing contact lenses...it might deflect the tiny bullet! IF YOU EVER SHOOT ME WITH A SWISS MINI...AND I EVENTUALLY FIND OUT ABOUT IT...
  10. You are scaring the new guys that were asking for assembly videos!
  11. It costs $5,800.00! Ammo is $10 per bullet! Although the price does include an attractive holster. Probably the only handgun that will be California legal in the near future. We'll all need to buy Jewelers Loupes so we can admire M1014s Limited Edition engraved model.
  12. I'm not too distressed over it. If the scratch bothers me I'll take it to the mall and have it engraved like M1014's guns. I'll just incorporate the scratch into the design.
  13. Unfortunately, I think we should all pay closer attention to ammo. I read a zombie/apocalypse website last night and their concern is that some calibers will become very scarce, very quickly in any type of real emergency. The military calibers were considered the safest regarding supply and availability of surplus. Although my personal experience was that 357Sig was the only thing on the shelf during the worst of the ammo shortages. I tend to disagree with the premise of keeping everything in one caliber. I have a SIG P226SCT in 40cal. I can change the caliber to 357Sig by just changing the barrel. I was considering buying a caliber converison kit for 9mm but the prudent choice would be to purchase another P226 in 9mm. Everything should be largely interchangeable and I could convert to any of the three calibers depending on the ammo available. I also expect any tightening of gun regulation to hit us from the ammo supply side. They can tax ammo until it is prohibitively expensive. No violation of your second amendment rights but no one will be able to afford to shoot. I'm considering buying some bullet molds in different calibers and one of the small reloading presses. Possibly one of the mini hand held ones. Something that can be stashed easily. I like the SIG P226 for holster carry and as a night stand gun. I am considering a J-Frame S&W Revolver as my CCW. If you are limited to just two guns, it sounds like you are the target market for the SIG P250. The mechanism has the serial number and there are different slide, caliber conversions, and grip modules. One gun can be re-configured as a high capacity night stand gun and switched over to a mini for CCW. I fired one at the range and was very tempted. I started to see kits sold with the full size and mini frames together.
  14. Is there something specific that you are having problems with? I just used the User manual that came with the gun and it was pretty easy. About the only advice I have is to be careful when you push out the pin that holds in the trigger group. I scratched my receiver a little trying to push it out with the bolt release handle.
  15. Check your calendar! April Fools day is weeks away!
  16. You are getting to the point where it is unclear if you will be mounting the light to the gun, or the gun to the light.
  17. Skeeter, as long as you're going to build one...why not do it up right! If you want a version that uses two batteries, I'll have to make a second trip.
  18. The bullet comes out the front end 99.9999% of the time. I am so over this gun. I bought a RRA AR15 and am happy with the decision.
  19. The tubing they start with can be seamless or welded. It's two different ways to make tubing. I'm not familiar with Ti tubing but would guess the small diameters are seamless and you don't have to worry about welds until you getup to larger diameters. I just looked it up and the sizes we are talking about for a magazine tube could be either seamless or welded. Modern welded tubing has the welds finished and the tube heat treated to make the weld invisible to the naked eye. Its only real effect is on the pressure rating of the tube, welded tubing is rated about 30% lower pressure than seamless. In our application I don't think it matters. The concern would be the appearance of the weld after machining.
  20. It's a piece of pipe, threaded at both ends, and painted. I'm not sure what "high" expectations would be. If you can't stand the wait, Freedom Fighter Tactical has full length Ti tubes on Gun Broker right now. They also have a tempting Ti charging handle. I'm in no hurry and will wait to see what Kip comes up with but the FFT stuff looked good as well; pipe, threads, paint, USA Stamp, new Wolff Spring...what else could you ask for??
  21. Apparently, Kip is still plugging away at his order backlog. On the plus side, it looks like Kip is one of the few people that haven't heard there is a recession going on and appears to have more work than he can possibly handle. On the negative side, his bad Karma is continuing as well with another employee set back. According to his last communications he is still moving the other Benelli M4 products forward through production. Here is a notice from the home page of his website: IMPORTANT! Status Update as of Feb 7, 2010; A key member of our staff had emergency retinal eye surgery right after Christmas, which has altered our timelines accordingly. All customer inquiries, shipping, scheduling and payroll were handled by her. Please accept our apologies for the delays. During the down-time we focused primarily on military orders of non-store related goods, as well as final details on additional Benelli related products that are expected to release soon. If you have an outstanding order placed between late December up to this point, please know that full operations will resume this week, and deliveries will resume shortly. I just wish he had a formal way of notifying us of status. I keep checking back to this forum and Gun Broker as I am afraid I will miss the announcement of the new parts.
  22. Unless he forgot to specify Righthand Acme threads when he ordered. The Lefthanded Whitworth threaded model is Kip's standard.
  23. Skeeter...Looks like your battery arrived!
  24. You got it straight. People in your house, up to no good = unfiltered, blinding white light. Lighting up the neighbor's house at night, two blocks away, while she's doing nude aerobics so you get decent photos = IR filtered light and NVGs or camera.
  25. It would filter out virtually all the visible light. They look opaque black, almost like a cover. However, it passes infrared light with little loss of brightness. I'm not sure if all NVG (Night Vision Goggles) would work with IR. Some just amplify (multiply) existing visible light. I think most NVGs do pick up InfraRed but I think we need to make a distinction between the technologies. I don't think the military uses active IR for general illumination because it easy to detect with simple technology (some digital cameras are really sensitive to IR) Cyalume even makes IR chemlight sticks for use with the goggles. The obvious advantage is you can illuminate people without their knowledge (unless they have NVGs).
