  1. If you are just setting out decoys and not needing to see trail reflectors there are visor clip-ons that use 2032 batteries on eekBay for under $5. I laughed at the sight of them at the dollar stores until receiving one as a gift. Works nice, is angle adjustable, light weight, durable, and for $20 I now have one in each truck and two in the barn.

  2. ... My tubes are 8.5 oz....

How does one make steel tubes that light? Are they thin walled compared to the factory steel ones?

I ask because the FFT steel tube I had weighed 10.5 oz, which is similar to the Benelli 7 rounder at 10.66 oz.

My only concern with steel is actually a plus for the "glass half full" sort...

...any thin-walled steel tube that starts life at 8-1/2 oz doesn't have to rust very long in order to slim down to 5-1/2 oz titanium class.

  3. ...Unsubstantiated, negative conjecture regarding how much effort went into the development of one company's products.....

Not sure how familiar you are with unobtanium. Historically his posts alude to direct correspondence with vendors regarding everything from chemical analysis, metallurgy, right down to scratch and sniff test of every sample he gets his hands on. Leaning one way or another based on data compiled in that way seems fair.

Notice he RECOMMENDED the one you are defending.

  4. I've been waiting since August with still no luck. I sent them e-mails with no replies back.

CarrierComp sent my muted charging handles in late October. A gal answered every email leading to that delivery. Great comm as I recall.

They mentioned having to sort out a deceased relative's estate across country recently. Betting that put a damper on things. A month away from the shop sounds cumbersome.

Just checked their home page. States that mag tube production is taking precedence during peak demand. Guess that precludes charging handles for a while. I just hope it won't affect my new pic rail order. Fingers crossed.:)

  5. Also some of them (12 ga adapters) aren't true. If you rotate the laser while it is in the chamber and the spot does not move in a circle you're GTG. If it DOES move, rotate it until its aiming high or low aligned with the center of the circle it created as opposed to left or right. This way your windage is more likely to be close at the start. Your elevation sight in range will vary based on choice of sighting platform anyhow, so plan on tweaking it (elevation) after initial bore sight. Usually the higher your sighting plane, the further away you bore sight.

  6. Hi all

    Im seriously concidering ordering a

    http://www.shop.carriercomp.com/product.sc?productId=3&categoryId=4

But ive heard there are back order issues. Any clue if my CC will be charged 3 - ? weeks or what ever before i get a presant on my door step ?.

    This is a copy of that detail from their home page;

Due to our Merchant service software parameters, back-ordered items will invoice at the 25 day mark, or within 7 days of shipping, which ever occurs 1st. Customers uncomfortable with this necessity, may opt for a courteous and prompt refund from "carriercomp".

I do notice an authorization within a day or so of ordering items from them, but never actually charged until 3 or 4 weeks later as described, unless it was for an in stock item, then the initial authorization became an up front charge.

  7. PM received and responded to, BigHat.

BigHat, you had your chance to say your piece in open forum, and you didn't take it.....

Wow Unobtanium! Now your very own personally signed "PM" prequel too.

In post #56 he claims he had openly shared. Upon review.... he has ONLY offered to disclose his version of the grievance via PM. Several of us fell for it... or had it forced into our inbox. Problem with this was his "private" disclosures have tended to vary. Surely he knows we compare notes. Did he tell you he was a senior SNCO or a full bird Colonel this time? Wait, he can claim we are delusional if our accounts of what he said don't match. Convenient eh?

Rhane71 nailed it though, expressing our exact grievance, while sparing the malice. Kip seems to have gotten better at keeping "mum", but still walks right into Big Hat's firing squad from time to time. He's learning :). His staff does appear to respond to inquiries via email, which is exactly how they should be addressed. Updating us here use to be the norm, but then he lays his own trap, when he could be working.

  8. No jest. That's my offer.

You can find plenty listed higher, but are they selling for that?

Price is what the market says it is.

I say $50 for the piece of molded plastic and a bunch of rubber bits.

Brush beat and well used plastic and rubber bits for $50, sure. The listing states "5 sold" at that price. New though. I figured you knew that.

  9. ....Geissele selling hammers direct... I remind posters that there are BUSINESS alternatives for your M4 needs.

Geissele hasn't sold hammers direct for over 3 months now, despite their assurances to the contrary. Does that make them liars? **** no it doesn't, but Kip understands perfectly and apologizes on their behalf, knowing full well the best laid plans of mice and men.

I know Kip personally. He works like an animal, and would win a bet that he could dig a foxhole faster than any man alive. But if you asked him to dig it for YOU, he'd probably take twice as long, not to spite you, but rather to make damn sure you couldn't complain about your accomodations. Most men appreciate that, but I digress. Big Hat, you're not like most men. It would appear by your repeated edits of your posts, you delight and obsess about belittling anyone with a disperate view.

It use to be annoying, but as the years pass, and you repeatedly roll in your own feces, the ire we once felt is giving way to pity. This is your hobby now. Take a look back. Could we all be wrong and only you are right? It has become your dream, a life long quest, to trample a man who never short changed anyone here. Bravo.

  10. Good question. I wish I knew for sure.

When you added the words California, it became a riddle, tied to a snare, placed on quicksand...

I tried researching this one. Got complicated quick. Is it a pump or semi-auto? Might not matter, like I said, gets complicated. Simple fix (best) is to contact a firearms friendly LEO and ask him who HE would ask regarding your jurisdiction. California county lines are like trap doors. Please let us know what you find and who was most helpful in finding accurate info.

  11. Do you understand the relationship between the shell stop, release, and what activates each? I would suggest taking some spent shells and slowly cycle, dry fire, while observing how the firing mechanism activates/trips the feeding mech, and how the silver lever on the right side of the trigger guard simulates some of these actuations etc. Much long winded hypothesis can be scripted here, which would not educate you nearly so well as peering into the belly of your own beast while teasing it into revealing its secrets to you.

For example, Unobtanium asked about the round on the elevator. If none is delivered, the bolt has not been given the prepatory command to return to battery. This command occurs as the fresh round trips the lever that allows the bolt to carry on with business. Try it and see, slowwwwly cycling the bolt with empty shells, pulling trigger, ensuring the bolt is pulled FULLY to the rear, then try it simulating a weak marginal cycle, etc. With each variation, see how the internal mechanisms do/or do not respond. Try every conceivable variable and jot down what happens or does not, and compare those notes to your malfunctions.

  12. Just in case, try ensuring the recoil tube pluger is also well lubed, review other threads regarding this. Manually cycle to distribute the lube. Sometimes this approach along with associated break-in can improve proper cycling.
