  1. I bought one, mounted it, hated it, never fired it, sold it, bought a Surefire scout light, a barrel/mag/rail mount, blasted away. LOVE IT!

It was heavy, not bright, and rattled like a pump. Slap a gen 1 scout light on there (with the letter "A" as the first letter in the SF Scout head serial number) and you will have an amazing bright, light weight light with a great spill flood for shotgun work.

  2. Thats a lot of hardware. What sights are on it? I am assuming rifle and bead with the barrel discriptions.

He may get more parting it out but here goes:

    Benelli M1= $800ish

    Extra Barrel=$250-300ish

    Extra Stock=$150ish

    Mag tube= $100ish

I think he'd bring in the most money selling the M1 as a sporting gun and parting out the "tactical" stuff.

    Hope it helps.

  3. I have an m1 super 90 with barrel mounted sights and need a taller insert what fits? the gun shoots very low

I have a strong hunch that Glock sights slide right in. I will try to check for you this weekend. I believe this because I saw a small ghost ring rear (for rifle sights) on a M1S90 and the only manufacturer that lined up with what I saw made their ghost ring rear for Glocks only.

  4. Depends on the gun I'm using. I used my M4 with PG stock in a Magpul Dynamics shotgun class as did Chris Costa. We also used pump shotguns as well. Mostly Moss 500 and Rem 870s. On the Remington 870 I prefer the standard field stock as its easier to engage the forend release. The pump guns were much easier to manipulate single and double slug drills. If your running the m4 bring both. They are simple enough to change out in the field. Try them both and see what works best for you.

I agree, I had a pistol grip stock but have sold it now in favor of running a standard stock. Sure the PG looks cool, but for me, the standard stock points better and gets my sights on target a bit quicker as well. FWIW, my M1s90 didn't like to run as reliably with the PG verses the standard stock... never could figure it out, all other things were equal on the same gun.

FWIW, once you learn to "push pull" the gun aka "Stretch" the shotgun the M1 is a treat to shoot.

  5. Here is the Brownells page that might be most helpful. Do you have the LPA sights or the stamped sheetmetal sights?

I think you will find that the M1 is nothing like a 590 or 870 to modify and build up. They are way harder to find parts for.

  6. 1. Talk to your smith, he will know if he can "un-weld" the front sight. I doubt he will be able to but only he will know. Otherwise they do make "Band" sights for the front with fiber optic. Like this:

    http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=19505/Product/REMINGTON_SHOTGUN_TACTICAL_GHOST_RING_SIGHT_SET

    2. You can always post up here for a factory replacement non-tritium. Brownells also carrys some factory parts.

    3. The Nordic tube would look great with one of their handles, however you need to "cap" that cap. I would call Nordic to see if they make a flush fitting cap. The nut you linked to is open on both ends.

That gun would look amazing when done. Make sure you post up some pics.

  7. Hello everyone,

I posted this question in some other threads, but they were tailing off and I got no response.

Those of you with the 3 Gun Gear Side Saddle (Aggie Phil), do you feel the adhesive will stand the test of time or is it a 3 Gun competition level of durability -- meaning, is it designed to be replaced on a regular basis?

If you removed the receiver mounted velcro, would the residual adhesive be easily removed with alcohol, or other substance, without marring the finish on the Benelli?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kerry

    Kerry,

    To answer your questions...

Yes and Yes. They do wear out at some point but they are very durable, and a little goof-off or WD40 will remove the residue easily.

  8. Ok I re-read his email and he said something about moving the mag tube hanger. I have no idea what that is. It's the factory tactical version with 18 inch barrel and two round extension. I was planning on taking the mag extension off and just putting a flush one on but someone told me the mag extensions don't just swap out like on the Remingtons so I guess I'm gonna have to find someone local to look at it for me.

Josh, you can find a standard "cap" like you are thinking, you will just have to hunt around the sporting guns a little bit to find one. They are out there, check the bird hunting guns on GB.

The magazine hanger is the ring that attaches to the bottom of the barrel that supports the mag tube, most every shotugn has one.

I will check the length for you when I get home later today on a single round extension.

  9. I want to cut it to 10.5. Will I still need to have it threaded for a choke? I have a sbs 870 and it doesn't have a choke tube. This is my first Benelli.

Not trying to bust your chops but you do know there are some legal hoops to jump through to get it down to a legal 10.5" right?

...man I want to see it when you get there.

  10. Josh, this is a pretty easy mod for nearly any smith with a mill (and if he doesn't have a mill, he really isn't a smith ;) ). I would ask around a few shops and see if any particular smiths name comes up a few times. Then don't be surprised when he has a little wait, it will be worth it.

I have found a cut, recrown and choke thread isn't that much at all compared to other work.

  11. Wow, Bens work is amazing. I have never held his work in particular but I have held some other well stippled guns and I have to say I do like the grip tape for easy of installation and removal, however, the stippling I have handled is far more "grippy."

I don't have an extra barrel clamp laying around. I just reblued my barrel yesterday where my CDM mount slid after firing just a few rounds. I followed the directions to a "T" and I was disgusted when it moved. Now I cranked it down and used locktight everywhere. I would go with mesa or Nordic for a barrel clamp light combo.

  12. So far, I like my Benelli much more than pistols. Feels more natural shooting it. I made some performance mods. My goal is to make the best home defense shotgun. Keeping it light, reliable, and maneuverable is a must. Am I missing something to improve the performance? What does everyone thInk? Thanks

    M1S90 tactical mods

    Done already

    •C-Mod Welded lift carrier

    •Super90 practical bolt handle

    •Meprolight Ghost Ring tritium sights

    •Boresight furniture stippling

    Near future mods

    •Practical bolt release button

    •Weapon light

    •Aluminum follower in Red

•Myself: Plan to take tactical shotgun classes soon. Most important mod as I am new to shotgunning.

    Federal LE-132 shells

    Winchester Ranger Slugs

I'd love to see the Boresight work! I would suggest a set of Wolf +/- 25% power springs. So far they are the BESET money I have spent on my M1S90. Actually the +25% spring eats all but the lightest loads, I can get consistent results with 7/8's and heavier.

A +3 mag extension (I happen to be selling one, wink, wink ) is a must. And I would also add a shell side saddle. I use a Mesa +6 and it works awesome!

You need to continue to watch every ounce going onto the M1's as they can be a bit finicky if you strap too much stuff to it. Mine has:

    Mag extension +3

    Mesa 6 shell side saddle

    Wolf power spring

Progressive Machine and Tool, Titanium Bolt handle

CDM MT rail/barrel clamp ***Wouldn't recommend it***

Surefire Scout light with tape switch

Grip tape instead of Ben's work!

Here is mine (without the charging handle).

  13. Emails are FUBAR as well. Thanks Razarf!

Bummer, I bought mine second hand just a month or two ago when I saw it being auctioned with a gun on GB. I asked the guy if he'd seperate... he said yes. I had no idea they weren't in business anymore. Sorry bud. I will check the packaging it came in as it had a Brownells number.
