  1. The advice of the guy in the gun shop gave you a sore shoulder. I am assuming you are more petite than me (I'm a slim 270# and 6') and I can still get sore from a long day of 12ga rounds. The above works for me. I think you will find very few who recommend using a rifle/shotgun/carbine "high" on the shoulder. You will want to lower your head to the gun to get a good look at the front bead. You want as much of your mass behind the gun, as mass is the only way to medigate that recoil. A picture would be worth a thousand words. Here is a picture of Chris Costa from Magpul dynamics running and shooting (different in terms of stance obviously) but look at how low and "pulled in" the gun is in relation to his collar bone. He has lowered his head, not raised the gun. You'll get there, try a limbsaver pad as well. The M2 recoil pad on the new Benelli's is VERY soft and nice too. I'm proud of you for keeping at it, lots of people shoot a shotgun once and then move on. Keep it up!
  2. It sounds as though there has been some good advice so far. Shotguns do bring a lot of energy to the party. Here are few things I teach new shotgun shooters: 1. Square up to the target with your feet and shoulders. (Length of pull is important here). 2. Bend your knee's slightly. 3. Lean into the direction of the shot at your waist. Don't just stick your bottom out. Naturally lean forward. 4. Pull the gun in tight to your shoulder. Place it low in the "pocket" between your deltoids and pectoral muscles. Not up on your collar bone. 5. Now you are ready to shoot. This position will get more natural over time, allowing you to throw the gun up to your shoulder, like in hunting, and achieve a good stance with as much recoil mitagation as you can. Have fun! Be safe.
  3. Call surefire, they will fix it no questions asked. It is the primary reason I go with USA big name products. The service of these companies is hard to beat. Heck, I have lost parts to a surefire before, and they sent me replacements for FREE!
  4. Thinking about going with a SF forend light on my M1s90. Anyone know of a place with a good deal on them? I'd like the tape switch version with the constant on off switch. Thanks in advance- Drew
  5. Mine was a bit beat up, but in good working order with a pistol grip stock, rifle stock, plus one extension, sling attachment, and threaded barrel for $650 out the door. For a like new one, with ghost ring sights, I'd go $800 easy.
  6. If it hurts you that bad... think how the other guy will feel?
  7. I like Eagle industries options, they carry about a dozen or so shells in this set up... http://www.eagleindustries.com/product.php?productid=230&cat=94&page=1 and you could always throw a few of these on with the Molle attachments... http://www.eagleindustries.com/product.php?productid=263&cat=0&page=1 Their gear is first class, you can't go wrong with it.
  8. I would like to keep a few extra rounds on my M1 S90. Would you run a quality saddle or quality ammo carrier on the butt-stock. I am debating between the Mesa Tactical 6 round carrier, and the Eagle Industries Shotgun shell carrier/pouch/check pad. I know the Mesa is faster to reload from, but the Eagle gives me a few more options to carry some plugs, spare batteries, even more rounds. Scratching my head here, I would love some of your thoughts as to which you'd get and why? Pic of the Eagle... or the mesa...
  9. While not a M2, I bought the same spring for my M1 and went to 100% reliability instantly. As long as I used 1oz. shot or heavier. I haven't tried the 7/8oz stuff yet. $20 a box at Wally world... and fast fast fast shooting!
  10. to the OP, I have both lights and really love them. I have decided that I like the x300 that I just traded my M600 for another x300 in a LaRue mount. I love the pattern of the x300 as it is super bright, has tons of spill to fill up the room and still has a powerful reach/spot light. The switch is the kicker for me as I don't prefer tape switches as I can bump the switch for a micro-second and be dark again all without breaking my grip on my pistol, shotgun or carbine. The only thing I would trade a x300 for is the x400 with laser... and I might do that, as I now have 2 x300's. The scout is a great light and you won't be disappointed watch ar15.com as they pop up there with regularity and you can get one with the new 200 lumen head for about $200. The only downside to a x300 on a shotgun is the mount. Unless you spend some $$$ for a quality barrel clamp/rail, then you will be scratching your head as to how to mount it. Oops, just saw your running an M4... problem solved. I love the x300... and yes they are twice the cost of a streamlight but for a 100% made in the USA light, with incredible customer service I am in the camp that there is Surefire, then everyone else.
  11. I dig it, nice to see a well setup non 870!
  12. I have learned a lot from this board and now have my M1 S90 running like a top. My first outting with my M1, I thought I was hosed, but thanks to everyone here I have found a few tips and tricks that have it running like a top. Most noteably the Wolf extra power spring. After a few hundred rounds my shotgun now eats ANYTHING I feed it. Thanks it is a blast to shoot and I thought I'd let everyone know that I appreciate the collective wisdom and knowlege here. Sappy... I know.
  13. Bump for a price reduction.
  14. HK marked receiver? I think the above estimate sounds really close. No less than $800 for sure.
  15. Aimpoint T1 or H1... low profile and can handle all that you throw at it. Not to mention you can leave it running for like 5 years or something rediculous. You will need a rail to mount any red dot.

    Surefire Overkill?

If it fits you and you can run the gun... leave it where it is! However, if you want to eliminate as much shadow as possible then move that thing forward.

    Surefire Overkill?

I don't think it is over kill either! I think a light on a weapon just plain makes sense. I am setting up a Scout on my M1 right now.
  18. Anyone found one that works? I am using a Wolf extra 25% power spring and cant get anything that I have tried to work, but wondering if anyone has the magic shell?
