  1. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=526999610 Don't pay over $1500 shipped. They were selling locally here for $1359 plus tax last month. As another data point, I paid $1318 for my 18" in 2010
  2. I have one of Kip's 5-shell tubes on my M4 SBS...perfect finish and machining as expected.
  3. Welcome -- very few R1 owners here....mostly M4 & M2 shotguns
  4. Looks heavy! One "tacticool" accessory that I likely would buy is if BCM made a "KMR'ish" keymod handguard for the M4.
  5. Yes $1500 total is a decent price if it comes with a PG stock. Add $175 if it comes with the factory C-stock
  6. Hi. I'd recommend selling the ATI parts and running an oem handguard with a factory C-Stock ($250 right now) and use an AVA Tactical light and QD sling mount up front. Most of us have tried many combinations of methods in search of the optimal M4 configuration and I'd say that's as good as it gets right now. Shown below. http://rs921.pbsrc.com/albums/ad51/calviroman/M4S90/20140726_114057_zps1e611ab1.jpg~320x480
  7. SD -- the cost the the SF head is pretty gnarly, does Malkoff make a drop in for the Lumamax? If so, you could buy one of his drop-ins for about $50 and install it into the L4. I'm running a 6P w/ Z59 tailcap and Malkoff drop-in.
  8. The price is a bit high, and the owner has bad taste in M4 configuration....check out that mag extension!
  9. Larue mounts are great if you want QD, but note you must swap out the rail segment for an in-spec rail if you're going to use a LaRue mount on it (lots of us have damaged mounts to prove it).
  10. Most of us bought the M80 several years ago and have since sold it as better options have become available. The AVA mount is the best option for a weaponlight and QD sling fwd mount at this time. The "gutter" in the M80 rails prevents successful use of the LaRue QD mounts. I'd love to see a very light and low-profile keymod forend from BCM as well as a SF DSF forend, but the M4 market is so small its unlikely to happen.
  11. Great -- I've been wanting to put limbsavers on all three of my stocks and was not aware of the Noveske adapter for the C-Stock and PG Stock. Any recommendation on which limbsaver fits the C-Stock? 10111? Thanks!
  12. So this limbsaver pad linked above will only fit the field stock, not the C-Stock or PG stock? Right? No way to put a limbsaver on a C-Stock?
  13. Sounds great -- can you please post or link to some detailed pics of your work?
  14. IMHO for an 18" M4 I would go with a 9V light to get the head farther out. If you had the 1" mount you could do a SF 9P with a Malkoff M91 drop in and have a beast of a waeponlight!
  15. You can get the barrel for roughly $850, and then would have the tax plus engraving. The entry guns are available and usually cost $1800-$2000 plus xfer & tax. I have an entry model w/ C-Stock but also have an extra 18.5" barrel & full-length mag if I want to put it into a non-NFA config for any reason.
  16. Yes the wait is long - but the product is perfect. Most high precision niche market items have a long wait time. Look at top-end 1911 smiths, commonly a 1-2 year wait for world-class work
  17. $10 heat gun from Harbor Freight + either twisting off firmly by hand or using a strap wrench. Having doe this on three M4s, I think the hardest part is putting the mag tube spring retainer snap ring thing back in the new mag.
  18. Nothing wrong with a K-frame for home defense! My wife loves them as well. I prefer a long gun, specifically a 11.5" SBR, for home use. My Benelli would be my 2nd choice, and a G19 is my third choice.
  19. Is your mag tube on order yet? I hear Kip is taking orders again. Are you looking for a C-Stock...its a great way, if you run it in the middle position, to get the proper sight picture with your optic while getting a 2" shorter LOP. I'd recommend moving the reflex sight to the rear of the receiver rail for a sight distance closer to your other long guns (measure nose to optic and you'll see what I mean).
  20. I think once you get 9 shells in the gun and 8 more on the sidesaddle and get it out into the field and start engaging targets you'll understand why we are such jerks about weight! I put 175 rounds through my 8lb 14" M4 yesterday and the biggest complaint is too much weight on the muzzle end when moving quickly between targets. Weight on the muzzle end was also my primary motivation for getting the 14". Full disclosure... I used to own an all aluminum 8 round sidesaddle / top rail combo on my 18.5". Loved it until I shot it while on the move.
  21. BW....not to hijack but just wanted to say your entry gun looks great in its current config! Now that you've been running the P2X / AVA combo for a few weeks, does the head clear the barrel and mag tube cap when appropriately indexed? Thanks.
  22. Why use the sidearmor rail? What are you looking to mount above the barrel? I only ask as many of use have tried and now moved away from that solution as it adds weight to an already very heavy platform and doesn't add capability beyond the AVA light and carrier comp top rail option.
