  1. This is a site to discuss shotguns. Certainly not defending anyone/anything or criticizing the opinions of my fellow posters, just saying that debating political systems or the people involved is best done elsewhere. I'm trying to escape from over a year of intense BS political ads here in VA. You're all free to be pissed, but please to it elsewhere. Argue politics on political forums. You have lots of places to play, spare us here.

The politics seem very clear that something is going to happen to the availability of the M4.

Does that mean we should not talk about 922R compliance and future changes? After all, that was purely political maneuver on George Bush's part; much like the ATF shotgun study was going to hit us last year. How about discussions about what happened to the H20 and why?

  2. Do all that you can to support the House. Nothing happens if they remain strong. SCOTUS doesn't write or enact laws. If they don't get the 2nd Amendment issue to mess around with it doesn't matter.

Having the "opposite" part in the House certainly provides them an opportunity to appear to stand for something different; but again its just another good cop / bad cop routine. No matter what the party the outcome remains the same; a good example is George W Bush, he was the biggest Democrat since Johnson and the "Republican" House back him all the way.

The fact is that even with the Repubicrats in the House and the Demopublicans in the White house, they pass more and more laws every day that people don't pay attention too, the only things they supposedly "disagree" on are for the Public's Dog and Pony show.

In the end, the country makes leaps and pauses towards totalitarianism. We have experienced a leap since 2001 and in a few years it will reach a pause stage that is long enough to help people forget what liberty and freedom taste like.

  3. TKTM - when the three aging supreme court justices are replaced with liberals like the two Obama put in there and they attack gun rights - you'll know what the difference is.

You mean like when the "Conservatives" flipped to approve Obama Care and Eminent Domain?

When it comes down to it pretty much every single Supreme Court judge will tell you that the Constitution made the Declaration of Independence null and void. None of them hold the position that the Constitution was enshrined to protect and further the concepts of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

The fact is that the whole mess is just the functional equivalent of running the Good Cop / Bad Cop scam on the masses.

  4.

That chart shot should be titled": "A guide to snaring and convicting innocent people"

Can you imagine if some how they got criminals to even worry about that flow chart.

  5. We talking about the same TEX GREBNER starring in the following video?

(Tex Grebner, I just shot myself)

Yeah, give him a semi-shotgun.......that'd be epic!

Looks like he missed an opportunity to practice returning fire in a live fire "I'm shot" scenario, lol; now that would have been a video.

  6. Hey Fliplip!...Welcome to the forum!!...Yeah, reports of issues like yours mixed in with the good reviews are why I avoided these for my 3rd compliance part. I figured the Geiselle hammer would be an upgrade from OEM but the FFT grips would be a downgrade from OEM.

    Later,

    Hookster :)

Nothing worse than buying a milspec qualtest passed firearm and then being forced to make it less safe or reliable with 3rd party parts. And, that is the real issue; a few reports of non stress test failures makes it clear to me that it is high risk to rely on such a part under actual conditions.

In that regard, replacing the forearm is deceiving because it seems like its just a cosmetic part; but on the M4 it is much more because it can influence barrel to breech fit. I had hoped these problems would have been worked out by now but given 'Fliplip's report, these handguards oughtt to be sold with a warning about barrel/breech reassembly fit issues. I'll wager that eventually someone will have a KABOOM because of this issue.

  7. Same issue here: I had hoped that my girl would be able to shoot the m4 too but it's too heavy for her to wield. The recoil is mild with 2 3/4" #1 buck loads but she can't keep the gun on target. Too heavy. *sigh*

So I'm in a similar situation with the pistol, trying to find something that is manageable for her but will also enable her to hold the fort down when I'm away. And she's not a fan of range time either. Trying to find something she can get comfortable with.

You can reduce the weight of the M4 by using a Titanium mag tube, it will also shift the center of gravity back just a bit making it easier for her to hold.

In terms of handguns, the HK P7M8 is the way to go, provided she can cycle the slide.

  8. Ok made up my mind. going with Wilson combat compact CQB.

killing two birds with one stone. I always wanted a "cool" 1911 and she shoots them alot better than my plastic guns so its a win win.

now if Benelli ever made a M4 in 20 gauge that might be the way to go for her

That sounds an awful lot like the "Singing Sirloin" episode of the Simpsons where Homer buys his wife a "HOMER" engraved bowling ball for her birthday.

  9. received my shipping notice this morning....hasnt everyone been waiting a LONG time for kip to make some??

My understanding based on previous posts is that Kip is the reason the Geissele hammer exists. Something like he looked into making hammers and as part of that process Geissele got on board and made them, with Kip as the initial sales outlet.

Now if Kip could only talk Geissele into making AK parts.

  10. FY!, Midway shows that you can backorder them and that the "expected in stock date" is 09/10/12.

Well, that's bad news. Midway's backorder system defaults to a 2 weeks out projected restock date. They have been showing them due in 2 weeks since the supply disappeared last APRIL. Of course the real test will be tomorrow when their system will give an expected stock date of 9/11/12.

I'll wager that a large stock will show up soon on the carriercomp website.

  11. I am not using the factory handguards. How would an improper seating of the barrel in the receiver force the magazine cap to loosen? Once again, thanks for all of the help and the replies

I warned about this concern with FFT handguards back in Feb of 2011. see

    http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/25750-FFT-forend-review?p=150641#post150641

It could happen with any manufacturer's poorly fit handguard. Unfortunately, you are about to see the bad side of this board come out as shills will popup and attack shortly in an effort to protect marketshare.

The issue comes down to the fact that the magazine cap's function does not include force fitting the barrel into the receiver. If the hand guard dimensions are off enough to prevent the full and proper seating of the barrel into the receiver, the handguards end up becoming a structural part of the gun.

Obviously Benelli did not design the handguards to be a structural part of the receiver / barrel fit. Nor did they design the magazine cap to be used as a torque nut to force poor quality out of dimension handguards to fit. With that in mind, the action of shooting the gun puts more load on the handguards than you can possibly hope to do by tightening down the mag cap; as a result the handguards distort enough that the mag cap can loosen.

Just be glad that nothing worse happened.

Here is a video of the issue I had with the FFT handguards

  12. didnt know the P7 was 32cal? I never liked that cocker thing on the grip.

I used to have a .25cal beretta and i see that they also have 32 in same design. I liked it cuz no matter what you were gonna get off one shot as the top tube lifts up and loads a round/ saves you from having to pull the slide also witch my wife has a problem with also

If she can't cycle the slide well on the USP she'll have an even harder time with the P7; but good technique can over come that. If she shoots a P7, she'll probably want it.
