  1. I really dislike the factory one and I know I want to upgrade it, but I'm unsure of which one to get. The factory one is pretty small and I don't want to add alot of weight to the bolt if it's going to cause cycling issues. Here's the three that I'm looking at so far. I'm open to any advice on these or suggestions for any others.

    Factory handle = 13.15 grams

    Arredondo

    $22

Supposedly weighted the same as the factory.

    (Is it plastic??)

    Nordic

    $24

    19.87 grams

  2. My '86 model M1 does not have the threaded barrel, but my father's '94 model M1 does. So, they sarted doing it somewhere in that year range.

I'd be willing to bet that it's cheaper to have your barrel threaded, as apposed to buying another barrel.

What's the longest distance shotgun shot you'll face in a 3-gun match? (just curious)

  3. For record, here's are the e-mail responses that I recently received:

Benelli: "Please double check the serial number, you are missing a digit. I have tried to find information on this serial number and get nothing. Unfortunately, I cannot assist with this."

H&K: "We have no information at all in our computer systems or elsewhere about that particular shotgun & serial #."

  4. Before you go to the trouble and expense, think about what you want to accomplish. Ghost rings are better than rifle/bead for 100 yard slug shots, but otherwise your rifle sights or a bead are perfectly workable on a weapon designed for closer range work.

If you use your shotgun primarily for HD, I would suggest that you save your money.

I use the shotgun for speed shooting. Ideally, I'd like to put a Burris speed dot on it, but many places won't allow me to compete with optics. My father has an M1 with the ghost ring sights and I can aquire targets much quicker with his (especially targets of varying elevation). So, I already know I like the ghost ring sights better, and $100 is reasonable to me. I just need to know how involved it is to install them.

  5. I'm interested in this as well. I'd like to replace my rifle sights with ghost ring sights. Any info on the process would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any recommendations on where to buy factory ghost ring sights?

  6. I'm attempting to obtain it's manufacture date for my records. When I e-mailed Benelli, they told me that "it's missing a digit", but no other info. And I have yet to receive another reply from them. Not to mention that a few aftermarket parts require you to know the serial number to determine if the part will fit.

I'm really just curious now. How could the maker of the shotgun not be able to identify their own serial number? And I still want to know when it was manufacturered.

  7. I was under the impression that all of the M1 shotgun serial numbers had six digits after the 'M' (example: M127579). I recently bought an older model that only has five digits after the M.

Can anyone tell me why it appears to be missing a digit?
