  1. Very interesting pictorial diagram!
  2. Thanks, appreciate the information. I'm still trying to decide on what sling I want to use on my M4. I'll have to check out the Magpul MS3.
  3. I agree with your analysis that there is no "practical" purpose in doing a mag dump. I'm not sure how often in any realistic defensive or offensive scenario it would ever happen. The point of my video is to demonstrate how quickly the M4 Benelli action cycles. I've read elsewhere people saying the Benelli M4 is not "fast" but actually "slow" ... not sure even what that means if we are measuring in milliseconds, but...I think the M4 more than holds its own when it comes to cycling speed, as my video demonstrates. No doubt others could get off shots even more quickly. As for the situation you describe of the hammer down on a live round, that's only happened to me when ghost loading trying to fire it it this fast, never on a sequence with one in chamber and seven or whatever in the tube. Not sure why that is, still waiting to hear from SD on his theories about it.
  4. Finally used them and discovered only one set of the tips worked the best for getting that darn snap ring in the tube! Funny how, for me, that's the hardest part of taking down a Benelli M4. Getting the snap ring back in the magazine tube! Go figure.
  5. StrangerDanger, any theories on why I have problem at times when ghost loading?
  6. Yes, agree, some felt that somehow the concept that deadly force may result when carrying a weapon was an odd idea. On the other hand, the emphasis on "stopping the threat" as opposed to "killing" was wise advice and the right way to proceed. The article generated a lot of helpful and interesting conversation about some basic considerations when making a decision to carry a weapon. I think the discussion on "The Firing Line" was the most helpful, and other places as well, can't quite remember. Led me to do a rewrite taking into account several of the comments/suggestions, which version was then posted in the comments over at TTAG's web site.
  7. Thanks for referencing the article, it was written at the invitation of the editorial staff of the blog, "The Truth About Guns" - a great site, by the way. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/07/daniel-zimmerman/are-you-too-stupid-for-concealed-carry/
  8. Definitely spins a lot less than GG&G, and for me, makes ghost loading easier as a result.
  9. How does that work with the light extending past the barrel? And, dumb question, but...what is the advantage of a short barrel like that?
  10. I agree with KB, I'd go to the gunsmith route as the most likely way to get a good result, but be sure to ask the smith if he has done this before. Never can be too careful.

  12. Actually, I replaced my GG&G with a CC knob, doesn't spin as much, and I like the ergonomics/size better.
  13. Flaw, congrats on your first outing with your M4. The "tornado" brush recommended by SD works great, by the way.
  14. Thanks for the thread bump. The extension is still for sale.
  15. It's interesting how controversial even that technique is, I shared that with several people and they freaked out and started dissin' Rob's technique. Oh, the drama.
  16. For me, keeping the shotgun well shouldered and trying to really lean into it helps me keep it under control. I was practicing two shot bursts most of the time during my range session, just felt like letting 'er rip the last few rounds.
  17. No, actually, the paper was hit by all eight shots, I was about thirty feet away, 10 yards. We have a great gun club where you are allowed to shoot anything from full auto on down. No explosive rounds or targets and no tracers, and no shooting steel with rifle rounds, but other than that...you are good to go.
  18. Like I said, the only time it's happened to me is when trying to shoot it as fast as I can possibly pull the trigger, with a round on the carrier after ghost loading it.
  19. https://www.hsprecision.com/shop2/catalogsearch/result/?q=10+Round+Magazine+for+R1+.300+Win.+Mag. 10 round magazine for R1 .300 Win Mag. Do a Google search, it is the second link that comes up.
  20. But, the interesting thing is that he tasted just like chicken.
  21. That's only happened to me when carrier loading, it will sometimes hang up when grabbing the round that is resting on the carrier, but I suspect that's because I had the shell loaded too far back on the carrier, instead of having it all the way forward.
