I'm a complete m4 noob but through videos I feel comfortable putting parts together. Got the gg&g bolt release pad on myself which was easy as well as my extended mag tube with little trouble.
Watched a vid on setting up the trigger guard and looks fairly easy however I want to make sure this isn't something necessarily better done by a professional to guarantee safety.
Interested to hear people's adventure in putting it on the gun.
Thanks
It's not that hard ,just take your time and follow the video. I've done 2 of them. The hardest part is getting that dreaded c-clip on & off. Make sure you have a good snap-ring pliers for that.

I had issues using the FFT Wolff Spring in my 7 round mag tube, even after polishing the tube it still would not launch shells up the ramp and was causing the shells to not exit the tube fast enough and up the carrier far enough that the carrier would hang up. It was frustrating as hell, wasted a bunch of shells trying to trouble shoot the issue. I switched to a Carrier Comp Spring and that completely fixed the issue. Hundreds of shells later and my M4 is running like well.... an Italian made Shotgun.
Also of note was that the Carrier Comp Spring is a good bit longer than the factory spring as well as the FFT Spring. The only way I can get 7 rounds in my 7 round tube is to use true 59mm (2-3/4") shells. Most overseas stuff is too long so you will have to settle for 6 in the tube. But I talked to Marcy over at Carrier Comp and they mentioned that you can trim up to 5 coils off their spring and still have a spring that is superior to the factory spring. So just keep that in mind, I ended up leaving mine stock and just noted that if I shoot Federal 00 2-3/4" shells than I can get 7 in the tube, if I run others like Fiocchi, Wolf, etc... then I can get 6.
But in my opinion the Carrier Comp Spring is superior to the factory and to the FFT Spring that they have Wolff create for them.
Thanks for the info , I"m still using the 5+1 tube so I'll keep in mind what you went through to gets things right if I start having troubles. So far i have had good luck with the wolff spring i got from FFT and the carrier.

I have the A &S Trigger guard and the FFT speed carrier and it has worked fine. I think other people have mentioned that the polymer trigger guard doesn't work well with after market trigger parts.

Unfortunately it has a DPP footprint so it won't mount on the RMR Sync 01
Maybe Sync will come out with a third option for a Sync 3 , the EOtech still looks interesting , I want to keep buying American red dots.

Eotech is coming out with a new red dot that' similar to the trijicon rmr which looks very interesting and is around 400$ .

All M4s that I know of other than the one single m1014 skeleton stock come with the 3 position recoil tube.
Thank you for the reply.

Other than the Fixed Skeleton stock version of the M4 which has a different recoil tube than the LE version M4 which comes with a collapsible recoil tube,is it one or the other ?

I run the SYNC/02 and a T-2 on my M4 with a field stock. I think it’s great. No problem using the iron sights. I agree about the PRO being too high, plus it would be heavy, about 12 oz. between the PRO, mount and rail vs. the ScalarWorks and a MRD is only 3 to 6 oz. depending on your optic choice.
Thanks for the info on the Aimpoint while using the field stock. I didn't realize the Aimpoint Pro weighed that much.

Everyone comments about using these red dot set ups with a C-stock , anybody have an opinion about how these sights work with a field stock ? Looks like the top red dots are the Trijicons,Holosuns and Aimpoints . i like the aimpoint pro but i think that will be sitting too high with any Benelli stock.

Ok , I’ll try them out. I ‘ve had horrible luck using Duracell AA ‘s lately.

Just be careful of red dots that use aaa & aa batteries. The new batteries made today do not last very long & tend to leak.

Is the hammer causing any problems?

I have one as well.

I think I may have one. I ‘ll look for it later tonight when I get home.

Thank SD for your input. I don't haven't had any experience with NP3 products.

Is there any benefit other than for corrosion resistance to upgrade follower to a NP3 coated follower ?

Somebody was bored .

Snap-on tools sells a nice 5.5mm wrench as well.

Benelli USA just goes by U.S. import regulations & laws. The real blame for Reg. 922(r) should go to the ATF & Politicians who create these poorly designed rules .
-
I think Fiocchi makes inert shot shells. Brownells had them listed but their sold out the last time I looked. Gunbroker had them too.

Is the oversized bolt release a tough upgrade to do?
-
Your probably right , but American gun companies may have benefited from the Import laws.
Alternatives to a side saddle for extra ammo?
