  1. As a precaution against it being "lost" in the Post Office, I've taken to taping the bubble wrap completely closed and include on BOTH sides my return address taped to the outside.  Ask me why I started doing this....

It's one of those things. I think you're supposed to, but I personally don't know anyone who has, other than one guy I know with a trust.

I agree, most people don't do it.  And most likely will never have a problem.  If the ATF decide to hang you on a gun violation, well, this is just another 6 month jail term added to your sentence.

Don't you need to have your receiver engraved to do a form 1?

My understanding is that you do have to have your name, city and state engraved in an easy to find (not disassemble firearm) location with specific minimum font size and depth.  After all, you are technically the "manufacturer" of the firearm.

I would rather go hunting with someone with a dirty car, than someone with a better than you complex.spent years as a tech in a ford dealership. in other peoples vehicles, his car isn't that bad, try getting in a car with a pile of 20 dirty diapers in the back floor after sitting on the lot for 3 days.

    Amen, brothers, amen.

  5. My last e-file form 1 took 5 weeks, 2 days.

If you have never filed one, I suggest you read all the way through it and collect all the data needed to fill it out before launching into it.  Found myself backing up (which logs you out) and making you start from square one all over.

"Hell maybe the sound of me racking that first one might send them a-runnin'."

Even if you've never seen or touched a shotgun before, the sound of the charging handle being jacked and then released will give anyone pause in the dark. It's the unmistakable sound of uh-oh!

I can attest to that sound sending a miscreant running.  Had someone try to break-in about 2 AM and I greeted his efforts with a single rack of an 870.  Noise stopped.  And only wet footprints left on my front porch.
