Any weapon should be well cleaned and lubricated when you first get it. Usually the factory puts more of a preservative type of oil on them for long term storage.
Maybe factories should all just use Cosmoline. Then everyone would HAVE to clean their weapons before firing them. They would also get to know every nook and cranny of their weapons thoroughly while in that cleaning process. Oh, wait... I'm sure there would be a number of people who still wouldn't clean it first. Never mind.

You took limited skillset to a level most only dream of.
+1 to that

In the past there were a few options (Geissele and FFT that I am aware of) to buy just a US made M4 hammer. My google-foo may be off, but I can only find trigger packages including the trigger, disconnecter, and hammer. Does anyone know of anywhere that still sells just the hammer?

They chose to live there. Happens every year. Can't feel sorry.Sounds like Job security. Glad Mother Nature allows you the opportunity to feel important.

It will. Mine have in the past and it was well worth the wait.I placed an order last year, we will see if it ever comes through. -
If could add a wish list for them it would include:
charging handle just like in the old days.
hammer since Geissele is no longer producing them (IIRC Geissele got it from Kip but don't quote me on that) and I don't care for the FFT version.

If I recall correctly, *snip*. Been awhile since I've kept up with things and hopefully they both are doing well
I think airing private personal information about another party on the internet is inappropriate and would advise you to kindly edit your post.
It isn't actually that difficult to find out what is going on with them by simply emailing them directly through the carriercomp website. If anyone is interested they can send an email and then wait patiently for the response. It will come, perhaps not as quickly as one may expect but it will come nonetheless. At least my reply did. And, yeah, I'm still excited to get the mag tube... whenever they can make it.

I thought I read somewhere here on the forums that the OEM screws are close to but not quite the same as #8-40s. Any problems to be anticipated from the not quite perfect fit?The screws are #8-40. -
Have you shot it yet?

I may have missed it here in the thread somewhere and if so, please forgive me. Just received my mount and was going to install it but was wondering if there are any particular torque specs for the screws and any particular pattern for tightening recommended - I'm assuming star pattern like an automotive wheel but, hey, I'm no engineer nor do I play one on the internet and there were no instructions in the package.
On a side note, you have some design and execution skills - just saying. This mount is NOT, repeat NOT, done justice by the pictures in this thread. You have to get it in your hands to really understand just how well this is designed and made. Impressive.
-
I think we need to somehow talk Geissele into another run of hammers.
-
No, they are two separate versions: https://scalarworks.com/optic-mounts/
What I meant was one common rail mounting system that would allow us to design a version for the RMR and one for the Micro.
Crap. I knew that was going to be the answer but I was getting up all my false hopes for one mount with both options.
-
So, if I'm understanding this correctly, one mount will accommodate either the RMR or Aimpoint?but we wanted a design that would also potentially accommodate an Aimpoint Micro, which has it's mounting screws go in from the bottom. -
IMO you won't go wrong with any of your above options.

I wrote with AsgardDefense , the reason for will not ship to Austria is Itar. So I am looking to buy it used from anybody or I will find a nice guy who buy it for me and will it ship to Austria. I read a lot of Itar and this should be no problem if I got it from someone private.
It certainly could be a problem for a US citizen who ships an ITAR product overseas without an export license. ITAR does not only apply to businesses. It is a federal regulation which an individual certainly can violate with consequences - just ask Brian Bishop who got criminally prosecuted in 2014 for a violation of ITAR when he tried to ship ammunition overseas.
-
Ok. Sorry. When I checked the shipping quotes on their website there was an option to ship to Austria. It even gave me a cost of $7.00.
I am seeing conflicting results on ITAR for rails. Some sites list shotgun rails as ITAR products and will not ship overseas whereas other sites state that an export license is not required for most international destinations. Perhaps ITAR is why Asgard will not ship overseas.

if the barrel match is perfect, it has to be Kip's.
Sorry about the confusion.

The threading looks like a carriercomp unit to me. So does the DG color pattern. The FFT units don't match the barrel color very well.
I would defer to SD's knowledge base here.
It must be my monitor because in the pics I see above the color match is not so good. That's what got me to look at each website thinking they may list their respective stamp markings.
FFT:
"All full length finished Titanium magazine tubes are made in the United States, and are therefore compliant with 922®. For good measure, every magazine tube manufactured by FFT is stamped "Made in USA." In addition, the Titanium magazine tubes are also stamped "Titanium.""
CC:
http://shop.carriercomp.com/product.sc?productId=3&categoryId=4
"Mag tube is fashioned from certified 3AL-2.5V titanium alloy for strength and durability unsurpassed in the industry. Rated capacity up to seven rounds in the tube matching its military counterpart. Weighing in at just over half the weight of the replaced factory parts (52%). Stamped "US" and "TITANIUM" to denote 922® compliance, all with unparalleled fit, finish, and durability that never corrodes!"
Probably best to not compare stamps but as SD points out to compare color match as CC's is good and FFT is not. My CC tube matches the barrel color exactly. Better than the OEM tube did.

It looks like FFT to me. FFT stamps "Made in USA" and "Titanium" underneath it. Kip stamps "US" and "Titanium" on his.

My understanding is that this is an import restriction.
You are correct. The restriction is importation (and, because of ITAR, exportation). The weapon already met all of the importation requirements otherwise it would not have been legally brought into the US and sold to you by the B&M store you purchased it from. You are free to sell it based on the laws of your current state of residence as long as you are not exporting it in violation of ITAR.

Do you mean this one: http://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/33284-WTS-GG-amp-G-2-Shot-Tube-Extension ?

They will do that if you don't keep an eye on them!
I wish I could. Hard to do during deployments.

Having been to war(s), this ----^ is spot on. And in spite of the second paragraph's truth, Aimpoint still sits on top of mine.
