I bought one of these in feb and like it alot. I didn't need to change anything on mine.

Thanks!  Just returning home, so I hope to fire it tomorrow or it'll be another week until I can get to the range.

For sporting clays, no.  Even the TTI carrier isn't really needed for that.  It's not like you're having to do speed reloads when shooting clays of any kind.  The only thing that might be useful is a thicker or thinner recoil pad, depending on what you get with the gun and whether the LOP needs a slight adjustment.

Thanks!  I'm really anxious to get the shotgun and will look into what the stores have (thicker & thinner) so I'm prepared either way.

  3. Ordered my first shotgun for sporting clays after numerous visits to several LGS and ranges.  Originally I was favoring the Beretta line, but my current M4 refocused my preference and yesterday I ordered the 30" 12 gauge.  Other than replacing the shell carrier (already have TTI on my desk), is there anything else I should prepare?

  4. Installed a domestic forend from Strike Industries. So far, I really like the product and the grip traction is much improved! To the range later this afternoon.

This is with the non-SBS barrel setup.

  5. Well, at the NRA show I was given quite a bit of information from Benelli as well as http://www.nfatca.org/ who had a booth about ITAR as well as some 922r background that I wasn't aware of.

It appears at first blush with limited information, that it might be the price of the forend that is causing the issue with being in the USA. I'll post more information as e-mails are received from various agencies and organizations.

Anybody else have new information either way to present?

  6. I'm still new to Benelli so keep that in mind. What was your justification for replacing the sights?

I changed out the sights on my M4.

    XS on the front

and Fiber optic on the rear.

What range should I try to zero in at?

    This is my first shotgun.

  7. I need to stop listening to other range "experts" who all but told me if I used a slug through the system, it would catastrophic and reference here more often. Granted, they aren't Benelli owners so their input is skewed but I at least thought it was grounded somewhat.

Added some new pictures to show the current changes to my original M4, 11703. Added a TangoArms set of stippled Freedom Fighter Tactical forearms. Swapped out my black type 1 RMR RM01 with a type 2 FDE Cerakote model RM06. I took the old black RMR over to a gen 5 Glock 34 I'm building up.

Scalarworks rail was swapped out with the Sync model. I had the visible portion of the shell elevator painted carbon black. The visible area of the Freedom Fighter Tactical trigger was painted in carbon black Cerakote. The Ava Tactical mod 1 mount was installed with a Surefire M600U 500 lumen output lamp on a IWC M600 body, and a Surefire Scout Light tailcap that I machined. The unit was then painted in burnt bronze Cerakote.

Nicely done! I have a couple quick questions:

    1. How is the traction of the forends you changed in relation to originals?

    2. AVA Tactical mod 1 mount, I have the Doberman version, but looking at the flushness compared to your setup.

    3. Your shell carrier looks different from my FFT with the structure at the end. Am I over analyzing it, or is yours different?

    4. Rear sling attachement mount is made by who?

I really like the Cerakote work/contrast!

  9. Ok, this may not be as simple as I thought. I'm not going to circumvent the regulations, was just curious if it was a business (not legal) reason they aren't currently imported. Thanks for the information, this gives me at least a starting point to research. If you come across other sources, please let me know.

The way I look at it is this.

If Benelli can’t or won’t import the part, dealers and distributors can’t get the part imported, I sure as **** wouldn’t stuff one in a suitcase. There may be a bit of a gray area with a firearm part as opposed to an entire firearm. However, I default to the above.

Take importation of parts from Canada as an example. There is a restriction upon what can be imported and the value is limited to $100 for one part and a limit of a total value of $500 for a single transaction.

Last I knew bringing any part into the US from Europe required an APPROVED form 6 importation permit to be presented to customs upon arrival.

  10. That sucks, and yet doesn't surprise me. I will present it during the NRA annual meeting in a couple months. Maybe by then, something may change. ???

ITAR regulations control both the export and import of weapons and related bits
  11. Thanks. Due to envisioned end project, I'm likely to change my SBS to a 10" barrel so it finishes at the end of magazine tube. I really like your mount and the light, but with 10" it will finish proud to the barrel with your mount. Maybe I just need another light...

    SBS is in the gallery....

  12. Received very quickly (!) my AVA order with Doberman Pro light. Hope to give it a test next weekend. I have some experience with Lithium-ion so I'm going the route of 18650 battery.

  13. After installation of the FFT 922r parts, I sent the entire trigger assembly to A&S to have them migrate everything to their product. I received an e-mail to contact Dave who asked for confirmation to adjust "minutely" the material on one component to address this issue. Received the entire order in a couple days with no issues so far. Maybe my lateness to the party has addressed this???
