Have you checked the receiver? There is a ledge right behind where the barrel seats, and it could have a burr on it. There’s other reasons it could wear other than on that spot on the barrel assembly. I also think the wear you see there on the barrel assembly could be from the bolt head and not the bolt carrier. (As all M4 will wear there on the barrel assembly). i also think it is possible your bolt carrier is not in spec. Reason being is I see wear on the back, and wear on the front but not in the middle.

I would take your trigger group out, put the bolt in and see if it is something further back in the reciever. I am not 100% convinced it is the barrel.

I’ll have to investigate my guns more, maybe some others can chime in.

Inspect the receiver for burrs, might be some aluminum rubbing. Feel free to pass along photos of my bolts showing no wear, I have thousands of rounds through these. stoeger doesn’t have any idea what they are talking about you will have to be a bit insistent. try and get receipt of purchase from the guy u bought it from?

It’s a manganese phosphate finish, hasn’t changed probably since 1998 introduction. wear like that is not normal. Here’s 2 bolts that I’ve used a ton, no where on them at all.

Okay I didn’t notice the bolt wear, that imo is not normal. and your bolt is Cerekote? The M4 bolt is fairly loose and not tight enough to notice less than 1 thou of paint i don’t think…. something may be out of spec there with the wear on your bolt

Thanks for the input. As for release date, looking like the fall at this point. I think I can bring the cost down more but I’m not ready to say what final pricing will be. I’m also able to get the RMR mount down in price as well, much less than others on the market.

Got a question for yall. With the newer update design on this, I had to move the bracket to attach at the front mag tube to address some issues of the last iteration. currently I am planning to supply a wave washer for under the mag cap to keep mag cap tension, which does work just fine without issue. Ive also been brain storming alternative methods for the past month with little headway to keep tension on the front mag cap. Older Remington 1100s used to use wave washers for their cap, so it has been done in the past. At this point there doesn’t appear to be another path to take but it hasn’t stopped me from thinking about it day and night for the past month. I’m wondering for those that are wanting this heatshield, what are your thoughts on the wave washer? At this point I think I need community feedback, I don’t think there is another method that will be better than the wave washer (the mounting bracket covers the detent), and it is the last piece of the puzzle stopping me from going into production.

Sorry I didn’t see this, but my QD mount is not compatible (I have this buttstock), but I might be able to make a small adjustment on it to work, if I can ever make it work I’ll let ya’ll know.

Doesn’t quite allow a 100% c clamp with cowitness RMR mount, but if it’s a picatinny mounted optic it should be okay. I naturally put my thumb on the 45* surface and I find it very comfortable, my thumb sort of locks into an empty mlok slot.

a little side shot… the front bracket is now at the front of the gun, it is secured by the mag cap and a wave washer. I tried to make it work with the mid gun mount but it had unworkable constraints. If I didn’t care about tool less takedown this project would have been a breeze, but it was non negotiable.

Our 6 position recoil tube is only compatible with the original legacy OEM collapsible stock. So it would work for your needs if I understand you correctly.

There must be a use for the other end. I’m wondering if it fits the recoil spring tube nut? Looks a little small but… maybe?

M4 is more robust. I have all 3, the berettas are a lot of plastic… M4 is heavier but can go through a battle field and still function if dropped, banged around, thrown around etc, to be honest I wouldn’t ever take a 1301 or a 300UP into a battle if the M4 was there as a choice. the berettas shine in sport shooting. Pick your poison.

There are the financial considerations also. A prototype of this piece is expensive, and the market of the SBS I am not sure how big it is compared the 18.5”. Probably a fraction of the market. But I’ll let you know when I’m ready and I’ll contact you. Need to get the first version out before I even consider this.

Haha. Well the SBS is illegal in Canada so I don’t have a way to design it other than deducting the shorter barrel amount from the 18.5” version, and hoping it all works out. I am not in a position to do that kind of blind designing. But maybe in the future.

It is around 7oz. The heatshield is heavy duty 1/8” thick aluminum, to withstand any kind of abuse you can throw at it. OEM handguard is 5oz if my memory serves me right, so total with OEM polymer handguard is 12oz. From the research I’ve conducted, mesa handguard is 0.08” thick, briley is 0.10” thick, our heatshield is 0.125” thick

I’ve also designed an mlok offset match saver. This is a prototype, will be tweaking it still (mostly getting it tighter to the handguard, higher up, and maybe closer to the receiver).

Well it’s been 8 months since initially announcing this thing, had some design tweaks that were needed and I’m happy to say the new version performs excellent. Hoping to get these into production cycle within the next couple weeks, but these won’t be up to sell for a few months most likely.

I also like 7.62, I don’t own any 5.56 rifles… robot warfare would be versatile with slugs and buckshot, can do air targets and ground.

Shotguns are the way of the future, and the past. And everyone thought rifles were the best 😏 Shoot a robot with 5.56 or 12g, take your pick!

The gun rubbed on something or banged something, I know you’re probably disappointed but now your gun is on its way to looking like it actually gets used! I get this is an expensive gun, and I am a bit desensitized to it, since I shoot M4s like the tools they were made to be. Shoot it and enjoy it. Run her hard, enjoy all she has to offer. if it really bothers you you can try some Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black, it might work for you.

This thread got off topic a bit, but talking about how I usually carry my M4 (in the woods on my hikes and walks). No shell in the chamber, but I have a shell on the carrier, all I have to do is rack the bolt and I’m good to go. Just one way to go, but when I’m with my kids and dog, I don’t want something stupid to happen with a loaded shotgun in battery and would rather have a quick rack of the bolt to get my shotgun ready if I ever need it.

Was your barrel fully seated and tight? Might be a cause if it loosened itself. as the comment above I have shot thousands of slugs through the M4 stock choke, even though they say not to… (apparently)
