  1. Hello, I am brand new to this forum and am looking for some opinion to those more experienced than I am. I have an R1 in 30.06, and it is well sighted in and hit 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. Love it. But, I just bought a new R1 in .300 Win Mag and can't seem to get tight groups. I tried Fed. Coreloct, the Winchester Power Point (if I recall) and some cheaper ammo., all 180 gr. I get 5 to 7 inches high for a few shots, bring my scope down, and then low or back high. I have put perhaps 60 to 80 rounds through it, cleaned and cleaned and still no consistency. The first shot is always high, then I hit close to zero, then the floaters again. The inaccurate shots always vary up and down. I have a new gunsmith installed brake on it. Is this a break in issue, shall I got o 165 gr., shall I keep shopping around for better ammo fit? It seems like the longer I shoot, the worse it gets--is this a hot barrel? Any advice appreciateg--thank you!
  2. So I've read plenty of threads about accuracy of the r1. I don't expect tack driving accuracy, but at least should be able to get 1moa like I've seen others get on here. I've shot hundreds of rounds and about 10 different factory loads and have gotten down to a 2.5-2.8 inch groups with Hornady American Whitetail 150gr ammo. That is shooting out of a "lead sled" to remove the human error. I have also noticed some scratches about 1/2 inch inside the muzzle, these scratches are left to right if you were looking in the end of the barrel. Not sure if that would cause my issue or not. Is this something I should send it back to benelli for warranty work? I have also had to tighten my barrel nut 1 notch past the red dot.
