Centuriator
Hi all, new to the forum. I'm super-stoked about getting my first M4 Benelli shotgun. I'm intrigued by the possibility of getting a muzzle compensator/brake...something to help tame the recoil a bit. I would appreciate observations from those who have them and use them. Do you feel they make an appreciable difference? Which ones are you using? The M4 model I'm getting is the H20 edition, LE model, model 11796. NoTycoon
The M4 is already a much lighter recoil than other shotguns.

kendeepdiver
I have been using my Benelli M4 for a local 3 gun shoot for about 6 months now. In my case recoil is definitely an issue I have personally found a compensator did nothing for me but I will say using Federal low recoil rounds makes a major difference. Also they have run flawlessly.
Unobtanium
I have been using my Benelli M4 for a local 3 gun shoot for about 6 months now. In my case recoil is definitely an issue I have personally found a compensator did nothing for me but I will say using Federal low recoil rounds makes a major difference. Also they have run flawlessly. Shotguns are pretty low pressure, I'd think a comp would likely be more annoying than anything. LR is where it's at. I use Remington 1200fps 1oz slugs, and Federal 9 pellet 00 1145fps buckshot. It cycles both even when held from the hip half-heartedly. Thing about shotguns, is that they live in the permanent crush-cavity velocity world. There isn't going to be much difference in wounding between a 1200fps and a 1600fps projectile. At 100 yards, a LR vs. a full power slug will have less than 100# energy difference, for all those who will complain about "energy down range". Centuriator
Thanks for the feedback. Forget the compensator then.
