johnspear23
Are these smooth bore barrels interchangeable between models without modifications? Also do you guys think WD40 is sufficient for lubing the gun and preventing rust? What type of oil do you guys use? Thanks, John
Russ F.
wd40 freezes and eats aluminum!

johnspear23
WD-40 eats Aluminum? I never heard that before. Anybody else know anything about this?
tucker301
I don't think WD-40 eats aluminum, but it does eat shi* as a gun care product.
Waldo1
WD-40 is a good penetrant and solvent, but an extremely poor preservative. It will NOT prevent rust on ferrous metals- even when wiped down and only placed in storage. Stay safe,
vinnylv
I've had two manufacturers, Ithaca and Winchester, tell me to absolutely NOT use WD40. Rather than prevent rust, it might actually increase the chances of a rust problem. A gunsmith also told me the same thing---none of them knew about the other conversations, so I've accepted that it must be correct.
rjbz2893
I have asked several armorers about the use of WD-40, and they all say the same thing. It breaks down the finish that has been applied to the weapon, do not use it on your weapons.
widetrackman
Well, can anybody tell us if the SBE 1 and SBE 2 barrels will interchange ? Second question, is the SBE 2 barrel overbored and have longer forcing cones?. Reason for the intrest is my SBE 1 barrel is way under sized for U.S.A. 12 ga std.s and patterns poorly with all 3.5 #4 lead turkey loads and only very little improvements after try many chokes. If the SBE 2 barrel has improvements over the SBE 1 and will interghange, it might be the ticket for me. Sorry if this is a little tech'ie. Thanks

Mudhen has already answered that question above. The SBEII is considered to be an improved barrel over the SBE. I don't know about overbored or the length of the cone, but the crio treatment improves pattern density.
