Nordic M4 +2 mag extension ???

Hello, i just recently registered/joined but I have been reading posts on here for about a month now. I have tried (to the best of my ability) to search for a post that would answer my question(s) with negative results.

I purchased a "Nordic Components" brand +2 Magazine extension for my M4 and completed the install I think/hope correctly. My main question is: has anyone had any experience with customizing the spring length for this item. After the install the spring "looked" (to me at least) kinda short compared to the OEM spring ("free length" is what i was mainly going by). Also i cant find any info on the "Quality" of the spring included with the kit? Just want to know if the spring i have is ok or if i need/should buy a better quality one (meaning spring and/or magazine extension assembly.

I Have learned a lot from you guys on here so far. Any feed back is appreciated and thank you in advance. Sorry if i did not include info that is needed to answer my question, if more info is needed just let me know and I'll post it (I'm familiar with constructive criticism so it does not bother me too much....lol).

Many have used the factory spring in extensions without problems.

Others have purchased longer springs designed for other Benelli weapon systems or aftermarket springs like the one distributed by member Cleefurd. http://shop.carriercomp.com/category.sc?categoryId=2

I personally use the extended spring from carriercomp in my DMW tube. I shot 125 rounds through my M4 this past weekend using the extended spring (firing Winchester Ranger low recoil 00 buck) without a single failure to feed or other problem. The spring was great and I was extremely pleased. For $12 its a great deal.

Sorry, should have mentioned that my M4 in stock/factory condition would only hold four 2 3/4 inch shells in the tube. I almost got the fifth shell in but it needed to go like 1/4" to 3/8" further (it appeared) to be secured in the tube.

The spring "free length" of the stock Benelli spring with the stock five shell magazine was 12 inches (12 1/8 to be exact). With the Nordic +2 extension on the M4, the Nordic supplied spring "free length" was only six inches inorder to hold 7 shells in the tube. That was starting with the recommended 16 inch free length and modifying/cutting the spring until the 7 shell capacity could be met (i only removed no more than an inch in length at a time) when i used the stock/factory Benelli spring with the +2 extension i could only get 6 shells in the magazine. proboly should have included this info in first post. thanks of the reply.

My duty M4 only holds (4) Low recoil Slugs or Buck. All of them are less than 2 3/4 or 70mm. When I added the +2, I only went to (6). It seems that I'm just shy of that last round also.

I've never been a fan of cutting coils. I recently purchased one of the CarrierComp springs made by Wolfe Springs. Cleefurd, Cliff, Kip - is very knowledgeable and I'm looking forward to installing it and seeing if there is a change.

If you are looking for springs then go to www.brownells.com and under factory parts the Benelli P/N is 301-000-115 it is the long spring and cost under 7 bucks. In my 8 round tube M1 and M2 they are just at the extreme length I want I know with your 7 round M4's you'll be cutting coils. Just remember to leave the cut end at the muzzle.

The guys on the enos forum are the guys that make the Benellis run at least the M1 and M2. I'm sure if you are using this as a duty gun some of the stuff they are doing would advantages to you and some of the stuff would be out of policy.

First i got to thinking that my "free length" measurement probably isn't a super accurate measurement. Is it normal not to be able to store 5 rounds in the magazine in stock/factory condition or it that a problem i need to be addressing first?

Since a new "better quality" springs are not that expensive i will probably just get one and see if it corrects the problem. Mike G. if you would let me know if the Carriercomp spring fixes your problem.

I will surely let you know if it changes.

My main reason though was that under the increased tension the weapon could be fired at any angle...
