Guest cleefurd
Sorry about the slow responses to emails/posts. Had a cut on the back of my right hand that left my ring finger's tendons flailing about like so many fettucini noodles, ducking in and out of the cut like lizard tongues:eek:. Looked pretty cool actually, but makes typing tedious, not to mention the impact on production cadence. Still working diligently though. Thank you for all your business and support. Semper Fi!! Adam2340
So you managed to bag the extensor digitorum communis' tendon? That, as they say, is not good. Get it looked at stat. Tendon sheaths are a great way for bacteria to track all over the place in your hand. They can set up infections that cause adhesions that forever limit the rang of motion of that joint, in this case your ENTIRE right hand. Guest cleefurd
Got the dirt sealed out pretty well after about 5 minute rinse, tincture iodine bathed, shaved, alchohol rinse, applied splint to keep it shut (no flexing) and a 1/4" thick gauze buffer with tape at each digit to keep dirt at bay. Dunedain
Ah, I assume you went to a real doctor to get that taken care of? It's not the sort of thing you want to fix yourself. You might even want to have a hand specialist look at it, as the last thing you want is something that has a long-term negative affect on your hand. By the way, nice titanium shotgun tubes you make. fishinguy
I did something similar to the knuckle on my left index finger 15-20 years ago. Wide open and could see lots of stuff I shouldn't. Went to the ER, had a specialist stitch the tendon together, then the skin and had my hand in a half-cast for almost eight weeks. Turned out pretty good, but I have some limited issues on the coldest of Minnesota days. I'd make sure it's taken care of properly. Even now scar tissue holds the skin to the tendon underneath, as I didn't do the physical therapy afterwards as I was instructed to do. yallknowho
geez cleefurd, that doesn't sound or look too good. Be careful man!
Guest cleefurd
OK you gentleman scared the b-geez out of me (mainly ADAM2340) so I just got back from the ER... tetanus shot, and unmentionable pain yanking out the loose ends to re-connect. Prognosis great, be back to work in the morning though. Must deliver. Thanks for the sound advice.
Adam2340
Glad everything is looking like it will turn out ok. The community needs you man. Get some rest. You did real good getting it cleaned out so well and then getting to the ER. Carry on.
tucker301
Glad you're on the mend. Did you say how this happened? Nothing better than learning from someone else's mistakes. The it's no pain and all gain.
Duggan
Glad to see you're ok, +1 on how did it happen? Was it during some aggressive R&D with your new line of m4 bayonets?
Guest cleefurd
Was in the bottom of a 4' hole marking the location of a jib-boom footer just outside the roll-up door of our shop, decided to punch the dirt to "mark" where the center spot would be.... seems my assistant had already stuck a piece of thin walled tuing in that location, whichI could not see for the shadows, I punched once... thought I hit a root, punched harder, felt blood squirting onto the side of my face, thought it was dirt and/or sweat, punched again, looked at my hand, saw a series of quarter sized abrasions, with one pristine cookie-cutter shaped slug of flesh and tendons visible as I stood up and held my hand in the daylight... removed myself from the hole and put the project on hold. Funny you should mention that. I have a bayonet and prints set aside for such a project on my upcoming M4 SBS conversion. Will post pics when that materializes. (still have not filed form-1 for permissions on the SBS phase so it's a ways off yet).
