Hi, i have a M2T and want to put a mag tube extension on it but don't know if it will still be legal here in the people's republic of California. I also installed a GG&G bolt release but the bolt locks back every time i manually pull it back. Anybody else have this problem?

Just ask any FFL/Gunsmith in California and they will answer your question. The way i read your laws it's possible as long as you have no telescoping butt stock and a pistol grip but not posotive about pistol grip and extended mag but i know they do not allow pistols with extended mags so i would say NO probably!

According to the California DOJ's Firearms Laws Booklet 2006, on page 13, a shotgun is a restricted/illegal "assault weapon" if it has:

- a revolving cylinder; or

- a detachable magazine; or

- both of these features: (a) folding/telescoping stock; (b) pistol grip, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.

Of course, you can't have a magazine capacity of more than 10 rounds unless it is a .22 rimfire firearm.

According to SOCOMGUY's website/posts on TheHighRoad forums, if the extension tube is marked "Made in the USA" then you can put it on your foreign-made Benelli, according to US code 922®.

I'm not a lawyer or FFL and this isn't legal advice. Just passing along information from other sources.

The mag tube extension doesn't count. You must replace the entire tube, follower, and install an American made choke to be "close".

If you do that you can argue you have changed the 3 parts. I haven't kept up with it but you might need to change more. The law is federal and has nothing to do with California. 922r is the law.

Quick answer:

From what I've read in this and other threads it seems mag extensions and full length mag tubes (made in the US with a stamp) are OK coupled with the pistol grip as long as you don't have the collapsible/folding/telescoping stock.
