Scope mounts

I'm a huge fan of the Burris Signature series.

The inserts insure a perfect fit without lapping, and they protect the scope's finish.

Good idea.

Have you used the posi-align shims? They look like a great way to set up the scope, when it is initially way out of wack.

I was trying to see if there was a good price for a set of the 1" Weavers, with the shims.

Hi,

My name is Jone in regards to the quality of the new Savage Mark II BTVSS I just purchased - I am absolutely excited and just blown away with the accuracy, with the action, the barrel - everything about it is absolutely phenomenal. I am a huge fan; the rest of my guns will now be Savage.

I used to get excited about shooting somebody else's Anschutz or maybe a Kimber but now it's going to be nothing but Savage. My hats are off to you guys. You guys did one heck of a job. It's just an absolutely wonderful .22; I feel like I can go compete worldwide now. Hats off to you guys again. You guys did an excellent, excellent, excellent job of designing that rifle.

Thanks

I just purchased the Burris Signature 1" Weaver rings, plus the additional 6pc. shim set for $33.00. Here.

So is your super nova cammo or black?

Scope matt black or cammo?

http://www.weaveroptics.com/mountcharts/default.aspx have ya seen these? Most rings/bases are made by Warne, they make Nikon, Leupold and several more and are a really good product! They are just down the street from Leupold Facility!

http://www.opticsplanet.net/egw-benelli-super-nova-pump-shotgun-scope-mount-2076.html Have you seen this type base?

Where are the Shims used?

I picked up one of these kits to use for mounting my scopes since i have got a group of them and never had to use a shim for anything yet? I also got the Tipton Best Gun Vise shown in video! It works nicely and is hard to beat for the price. Most folks do not lap their rings much less align them, i have noticed that during installation that my Warne rings were not in alignment and this kit allows you to align them prior to scope installation! Kit works pretty good, only used it once so far but think this will keep damage to optics to a minimum. If you dig around you can find some good prices and the company tucker spoke of is where i picked up the Kit & 89 Piece screwdriver set which i probably did not need but it is nice since i hade very little that was of Firearms quality tools!

I have the APG Supernova and the Badger rifled barrel I puchased, was parkerized black. The new 1.65-5x36 Nikon Slughunter only comes in black matte, so the complete camo makeover was out, especially due to cost.

The Burris "Signature" model scope rings, actually have a durable plastic "liner" (in two halves) that fits between the steel ring and the scope. It's supposed to be able to hold the scope in place, but not too tightly, as to damage the scope tube, or possible force the tube out of internal alignment.

The "shims" are actually pieces of liner, but at different thicknesses. For instance, if you wanted to move the front of the scope up, you would use a thinner liner on top and a thicker one the bottom. Left to right, 45 degree angle, same type of deal.

The idea is to be able to initially zero the scope, without having to use the windage or elevation knobs. Supposedly really makes a difference, if the scope mount is way off, or other problems, that could make you use quite a bit of the W/E adjustment to zero the scope, before it hits the field.

For $33 bucks, you probably could not buy the cheapie Weaver brand mounts at Walmart.

I'm all in.

I would think you would have to have one of the above bore sighters to actually bore sight the shotgun and you really think shimming it will be needed? I would think if you used the EGW rail or the weaver mount that it would probably fit nicely without shims? I guess it might need them and shims are cheap! I picked up one of those Leupold Magnetic Zero Point bore sight jobs and for a rifle they are pretty nice and not many wasted shots if you get good with it! Which i am getting better not good! Never had a scope on a shotgun good luck getting it sighted in, was looking at the scope specs and you have plenty of adjustment per it's specs, 100 MOA!!:)

Here is a quicktime video from the Burris that explains it best. Could be marketing hype, but it seems to make sense and again these are supposed to be quality rings for $30.

Wow, that is a great price, for a laser sighter! How far in range does it actually go? The specs say 14-100yds.

Considering the huge cost of good sabots, this tool would probably pay for itself pretty quick.

Got the rings in today. Talk about fitting like a glove! ;)

Just barely put the screws in finger tight and the scope sits nice and snug, with the inserts. Just did the basic fitting and I'll have to wait for the winter storm, to subside before zeroing in.

The burris rings appear to be extremely high quality, expecially for the money.
