Old Dog
Finally got a couple of real storms, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds were from 20-40 mph. with 2-4 inches of rain. Our club borders the Sacramento Wildlife refuge on the closed side, seemed everybody got limits of ducks, geese were not flying. Any other storm reports would be fun to read. mudhen
Crazy wind and rain up in Richvale so far this week Shooting was good yesterday, but reports from today are that many birds bugged out for the toe water closer to Sacramento and the Grasslands. Many refuges are closed, more should close by this weekend. Delevan is likely closed for the season, as is LDC, Howard, etc. They expect Sutter & Yolo to be next. It takes at least a day for the rain the in foothills to make it's way down to the valley. I prefer the fog....
tucker301
You can have your fog. I started down river a couple of years ago in thick fog. I went under the same bridge twice. That's when I parked the boat and waited for daylight.

CA.H20Fowl.Hunter
Our group had resi #5 for LDC today ... Of course the refuge closed due to storms. One of us had a backup resi for Sac NWR #53, not a good number but better than #1 in the lottery, 175 people entered Wednesdays lottery. Got out to a "side hole" blind, mostly a ringnecks pond. Hoped for more with the wind between 25-35 all morning, but birds have definately left the refuge and are in the Ag fields. 7 ducks and a snow between 3 hunters that hunted til 11am. Yep, the refuges looked empty over the weekend. Like you said, they are out in the fields, and probably will be until Feb/Mar
duckht183
Are they closing the refuges up north for the season or what?
