ianjbs
The finish of the gas system is splotchy and uneven, it's not anything I can clean off, and a light film of oil doesn't change it in any substantial way. Does anybody have any ideas as to what may be the culprit? Does any soldering go on in this area? Could that be the problem? Thanks in advance for the help. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn222/ianjbs/m4/benelli5.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn222/ianjbs/m4/benelli4.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn222/ianjbs/m4/benelli2.jpg Edited March 16, 2010 by ianjbs Added images

ianjbs
Yes I am aware of how to care for the gas system, and I have yet to fire the weapon. Any thoughts on what could cause this type of marred finish?
HOGWILD
Call CS and show them your issues if you want them fixed? It does look like something went wrong and probably should have not been sold in that condition. But on the other hand tear down a Ruger Mini 14 and see what the barrel looks like next to the gas ports on a brand new rifle. I would be ashamed to show it and from what i have been told by owners that have had them for 20 to 25 years is that this is normal. What i am talking about is much worse than what you have pictured! It does nothing to affect the operation of the rifle and is hidden and looks like grinding was done on barrel but it does not rust and is outta site so i am ok with my issue but totally understand you have a finish problem that needs to be talked about with CS. Good Luck!
cody6.0
Regardless of it's effect on operation if I found this under my handguards the **** would hit the fan.
ianjbs
Thanks for the input everyone. I will give Benelli a call and see what they say. Later today I will post other photos which are giving me a bit of pause, I'm not sure this gun should have escaped the factory.
