Lets talk slings for the Benelli M4!!

What slings are you guys using on your M4 with the standard pistol grip stock? Can you guys also post pics on how it's set up? I wanted to go the 2 point route. It seems that the sling loop on the front and rear are low profile so they won't actually take a sling that you clip on there. The sling I wanted originally is the one that carries 15 or so shells on there AND I know for some it's not practical and its to heavy when there is shells on there, but in the event where SHTF or "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE" happens will certainly be practical.

I have the same sling on my 930 SPX and I don't put shells on the sling while at the range. In my opinion its great to have that option if needed though. Basically, I wanted to see how everyones M4 is set up with a sling to give me some ideas on what route to go. I did a search, but didn't really come up on what I was looking for.

I don't have the standard stock but I use this sling, which would fit on the standard stock if you trimmed the stock-end nylon slightly:

No pics because I'm at work.

I avoided the slings with shell holders because I think the bandolier sling itself kind of sucks compared to an adjustable model (one man's opinion). The adjustable 2-point sling is great for carrying and shooting. I keep my bandoliers separate. That way I can give them to someone else if necessary.

I use a Specter Gear sling

it comes with an attachment adapter to adapt a 1 1/4" sling to the Benelli buttstock attachment point but I use their Buttstock shell holder as my rear attachment point

Magpul MS3 with a QD attachment point at the single point attachment, converts quickly to 2 point (MS3 sling has locks on the hooks, pretty handy).

If you go with the single point attachment at the pistol grip you will have to drill out the pre-existing hole to 5/16" (according to Mesa Tactical) in the C-stock pistol grip or drill an entirely new one in the standard stock pistol grip to accommodate the Mesa Tactical sling attachment point.

Here's a MS3 sling demo, adjustment handle loop provides fast, smooth lengthening/shortening, was surprised at how easily it works -

I think I'll be getting the Blue Force Gear sling. My 2 choices are the Vickers Combat Applications sling or the padded version. What's the difference in the adjusters? I see that the aluminum adjuster is $20 more than the plastic. Any benefits to the aluminum over the plastic?

I just picked up a MS3 sling today to tinker with a Noveske N4 SBR.......report to follow.

As for the single point with a C-stock.....au contraire mon frere'

I don't doubt that Mesa recommends as you say, but.....

ALWAYS.Always.Always.......work on the least expensive part ........or the part that is the most readily available.....in this case, if you need a QD attachment point for your C-stock, and you don't want to use one of the options mentioned earlier in this thread.....then just chuck the Mesa tactical screw into a drill (or drill press) and reduce its external diameter down to fit nicely thru the existing roll pin aperture.....don't screw up an expensive stock.

Thx for that info benelliwerkes. Obviously I entered that wrong, it should have been 5/32" not 5/16", and it's definitely better to alter the cheap replaceable part. I've not received my Mesa Tactical QD attachment point yet so I've not altered my c-stock yet, and now I won't thanks to your tip.

Here's the MS3 QD sling mounted on a Noveske N4 10.5" .......I need to practice converting from single point to dual point attachments. The para-clip works well to secure it to a forward mounted "empty" QD point. It feels as though it holds the gun in close to the chest on single point attachment.....the sling portion about the neck is not padded, so it may rough up the neck somewhat.
