awmp
I have an M2 and thought about getting an M4 (had one and sold it sometime ago). I know one is gas and one is inertia, but is it worth it to get an M4? Why? Reasons one is better than the other, thanks.
BLACK
The M4 gas system does not suffer from weight issues like the inertia guns. One piece mag tubes are available for the M4. M2 weighs much less and seem to have more options for barrel length. Lots of support for the M2 from the run-n-gun crowd.
M2_shootr
Comparing the two is kinda like comparing a sports car to a pickup. They are both vehicles, but honey have completely different designed uses.

awmp
The below is true. I think that his question was in the context of comparing the tactical model M2 with the M4, not the M2 field gun.
StrangerDanger
You don't see many M4's in 3gun due to the weight. The M4 is built like a tank. The M2 is a lot lighter and more agile.
BLACK
the tactical model M2 with the M4 M4 has dead-nuts reliable gas operation, seamless one piece mag tube, lots of options for stocks etc.

truckcop
Advantage of an M4 over an M2? Having owned (still do) both, in terms of operation, reliability, practicality, none really.

truckcop
I use my M1/M2's a lot more than my M4. I purchased the M4 on a whim when a LGS had one for a pretty good deal. I didn't realize it was so much heavier until I got it home and put it together. I'll shoot it on the skeet/sporting clays range every now and then just for grins and once in a while in a 3-gun match but if I needed cash and had to sell one or the other, the M4 would go before the others. I can't think of a thing that it will do any better than the others. Part of the family: Edited September 21, 2014 by truckcop

Evolution
Yes, VERY nice collection of guns. Can never go wrong collecting quality firearms. Contrary to most people, I prefer heavier weapons. Helps dampen recoil, I don't do those 3-gun run around a course shooting trials, and I will never be a 'bug out' type of person in some 'SHTF scenario', where supposedly one will be humping guns, ammo, food and water over hill and dale. So, IMHO, if you are only going to own ONE Benelli, the M4 is it. Reliability, and heavier, stouter built guns, are what I prefer. And most importantly.....just look at those four guns....which one is the handsomest, most coolest looking? Why, the M4 is, hands down. I really dig the sharp angled drop from the receiver to the stock as opposed to the rounded end of the receiver.
