Would it be better to have it tapped for a rail?  That way you can adjust the red dot for eye relief for what "feels" good?  My guess is closer is usually better for a wider FOV.

Sorry, I meant rail. Any rail that fits the M2 or M4 should work.

I have since installed the RMR using a modified Scalaworks RMR mount.  The RMR attaches directly to the mount rather than a mount that's then attached to the rail, as above.  That places the RMR much lower on the receiver.
