Good sight for benelli M4?

I'm a fan of the Trijicon RMR on the Benelli. I usually go for the Trijicon RMR Type 2, RM09 which is a 1moa dot optic size. I see no purpose for the larger diameter dots since they just obstruct more of your target. I never found them to be faster than the small ones. With my eyes I can't tell the difference between the 1moa and the 3.5moa dot size.

For a mount, Scalarworks is what you seek.

I, originally had a Trijicon RMR with Scalarworks mount (for the co-witness).  However, the Trijicon was difficult to see when the sun was over my right shoulder. I change over to a Vortex Razor and a rail mount.  A side by side compare of the Trijicon and the Vortex (looking into a shaded area) shows the Vortex has much clearer glass with less side distortion. Also, the Vortex has a wider FOV.

No longer having/needing the co-witness, I opted to remove the stock sight. I then reversed the direction of the stock rail and cut off the portion that extended too far to the rear. I also removed the front sight blade and blade guard.

Thanks in advance.

Get the RAZOR VORTEX,   all these "must look pretty gun" types above (most of which dont even shoot much) love the LOW PROFILE of the RMR and flat rail, but the RMR sucks backside in incident lighting, is overpriced, and overtly fragile.

The holosun looks nice.  Originally I went with Insight (, the L3, now?) MRDS, which worked fine, but blocked the iron sigts.  I switched to the trijicon RMR and the original scalarworks co-witness mount and am very happy.

There are some good choices offered here, go with what you like and wallet can afford.

Mahalo!

I have yet to install a dot optic on my M4. I have thought about it but I am a huge fan of the ghost ring sights. I have no issues quickly acquiring a target with them.

In fact these type of open sights which are the same type that are on the M1 Garand and M14 rifle are considered to be the best designed open sights.

Maybe a stupid question but, if mounting the Trijicon RMR on the pic rail instead of using a Scalar mount, when looking thru it, do you see the front sight in the FOV?

The factory pic rail on the M4 is kinda garbage and seems like an afterthought. I get as close to a true co-witness with the scalarworks rig as you can get.

Yeah, it's a pretty flimsy thing. I replaced mine with an Asgard shell carrier one anyway which is a more robust rail and is "advertised" to be a true Picatinny rail. I don't want co-witness anyway and that is why my consideration for an optic would include the Pic rail mount that can be purchased with the RMR.

Have no experience to RD or mounts. What setup is better? And why some users saying that MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails on Benelli M4 no good. What about this setup?

I’m using a RMR & Blitzkrieg front sight on mine.  I’m going with the great triangle of death theme.

Got this in yesterday! Went with the SRO instead of the RMR. Really excited about it. Going to install tonight and will post photos. Overall 1st impression out of the box is really tiny with a very low profile.
