electric7 2
seems like you have to test it out with whatever you can find right now

ruger 29
even 5.56 has gone through the roof around here if you find a box in a gun store. I was at a local hardware store last week to get a band for my wood stove. they sell more guns than any shop here in wisconsin. they had about 5 boxes of 223 on the shelf priced at 24.00 for 20 rounds. glad i don't need any...they have never run out of ammo, even when 22lr was scarce 8 years ago they always had plenty.and cheap prices. they had pretty much nothing in stock, even the 22lr was gone. my wife has asked me for years,,why do you keep buying ammo??are you wierd or something?? well now she knows why.
Gmcrigger2007 14
Shop by me is asking almost 700$ for a case of 9mm CCI 115gr and almost 600$ for 500rds of Federal 5.56. It’s insane the prices their asking.

WWB 5.56 right now is 159.99 for box of 200 here in town...still a long way from the .30/rd I paid. F
Evolution 72
I just looked at a couple of online retailers that I have used in the past and saw that a single box of 50 range type ammo in .45 ACP or 9 MM Federal ammo is listed for 78$. I never have given in to the old capitalist mantras of "supply and demand" or the "the market sets the price." To me it has always been just an excuse used to justify price when people become desperate for something to rip people off and make huge profit margins while the desperation lasts. F them! GTTom 24
I going to test my M4 out at the range tomorrow after installing some mods. I hit 4 local gun stores today looking for 12ga slugs. Only found two boxes of Federal at the last small mom and pop store I went to. And they would only sell me one of the boxes🤨. Going to be a short test tomorrow....... Edited October 17, 2020 by GTTom
Gmcrigger2007 14
I forgot to mention in my last post about the shop with the expensive ammo ,that he also an M4 That i would guess is a LE model. It has the fully adjustable stock & plus 2 extension. I didn't even bother to ask how much he was asking for that. I think he caters to a lot law enforcement people.
ruger 29
I spent 20 years in colorado springs till i moved to the country here in wi. a few years ago. use to go to a gun range there called dragon mans. he has an extensive collection of class c weapons and tanks and just about any world war 2 vehicles you can imagine. well when the ammo shortage happened in 2008 you couldn't find hand gun ammo anywhere. well he had pallets of 45 acp from ww2. he started selling that ammo over the counter so people could use his range that wouldn't due to the ammo shortage.. he told me buy a few boxes try it and if not happy bring it to me for a refund , only concern is that it's more corrosive than modern ammo so just clean your gun when you get home. well that 230 grain ammo shoots better than any 45 acp i have ever shot and it's over 65 years old. still have a few hundred rounds of it left. was made at a chrysler plant in 1944. off topic a bit but true story.

Anjin-san 1
In Bass Pro last weekend, the shelves of rifle and pistol ammo completely cleaned out 100% - even oddball hunting cartridges probably only chambered for bolt actions. No slugs or buckshot. But, 12GA bird shot/turkey/field/target loads, all you want, shelves of it... lol I've noticed plenty of birdshot in stock everywhere else around here too at regular prices. I guess nobody thinks birdshot at close range will deter bad guys. If someone asked me right now what gun to get for home defense I might suggest a 12GA pump or auto that will cycle light loads based solely on the fact that I know they would be able to get ammo for it -- birdshot -- not the best but not nothing. electric7 2
How about a 3in 1500fps game load? That kicks like a motha. That would have to hurt.
BigJoe365 6
Federal 00 buck or slugs are running at 2 bucks a shot +/-. You know what they call a shotgun without ammo ? A bat. I bit my tongue and paid the fiddler. $499.00 for 250 rounds of Federal deep penetrator slugs. Because I didn't have any.
aznwhip 49
Wtf, I haven't checked in a while as I have fair amount of reserve, but at $2 a shot, I'd sell my stash of Federal 00.
GTTom 24
I found some ammo on line at Federal. I added 10 boxes to my cart. During checkout the card amount reduced to 6 "available", then by the time I entered my credit card number the amount dropped to "0- None Available"......🙄

You may want to hold that thought. You could be buying them back at $3. the online stores show no stock because they are all getting top dollar on GB.
