Fen Wolf
Greetings, I am curious as to how the felt recoil compares between the nova and the SBEII using the same 3.5 inch shell. Anyone have experience with both? Thanks in advance
EFLOYD
I would suspect that the recoil of a "dead bolt" shotgun such as the Nova would be a little more at the shoulder. The SBE II (I have one) does thump, I believe the Oct. edition of the Waterfowl magazine has a comparison article on gas vs inertia which states the recoil in ft pounds of a certain load was 45 ftlbs at the shoulder. I also have a pump 835 that does jolt me harder than the SBE II.
sleepydoc
Tried both, the nova seems more. My buddy gave up using 3.5 in the nova as his shoulder got too sore after a bit I was ok with the sbeII but lost my recoil pad ( see earlier post)
Fen Wolf
Im 5'8" and 160 lbs. All the talk about recoil of inertia systems had me shying away from the SBE. But, I shot my nova with 3.5 inche shell all last season without any complaints. Im gonna stop being a wus and go for the sbeII.
straitmeatkilla
I have had the opportunity to shoulder and shoot both guns as i have owned a Nova and now own an SBE II. The recoil with the Nova is much more noticeable when compared with the SBE II. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most recoil....I would say the Nova is an 8 while the SBE II is a 4 or 5. Fen Wolf
Just got home with my sbe2. It felt like more recoil to me than the NOVA. But, to be honest, Ive only shot the nova at ducks and adrenaline probably kept me from noticing the recoil so much. Still the sbe2 is not that bad. I shot 6, 3.5s, 3 3's and 6 2 3/4 shells and all fed perfectly. My shoulder is a little sore but this is the first time this year I have felt the recoil of duck loads. Been bowhunting for 4 weeks. I shot all 6 2 3/4 at skeet and dusted all of them. I think Ill keep the gun.
