ported chokes

Im a new to shotguns i got a left handed montefeltro can you tell me if a ported choke will reduce the recoil when im shooting and can you recomend me one

I don't know. I feel no difference. A mercury recoil reducer in the stock works for me, but the ported tubes have no effect that I can feel.

 

But they are good for blowing the eardrums of guys shooting next to you and getting powder in your eye on windy days!

I don't think they were intended to reduce recoil so much as reducing the jump. The idea is that the barrel will stay in the target area for the second bird.

blue davis is right, ported chokes and barrels reduce a little recoil but their main purpose is tor educe barrel jump(dont know right word!) something that is important to clay shooters. Also i have heard that ported chokes and barrels create much unwanted noise, and in many cases significant drops in shot velocity
