TurkeyslayeR Posted August 1, 2007 Share Posted August 1, 2007 I have a Nova 12 gauge. I use it for turkey hunting , does anyone dove hunt with a nova? I would rather buy an automatic but i might just use mine. I will probably use a full choke. I would like some input on how good they are on doves. Liberty or death Jr. Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 If you can shoot strait with it then yeah, it'll make a good dove gun. I'll be using mine for doves this year. I would sure like to have an automatic for the clean up shots, I think i could take 2 or 3 from a flock that I just get one from with a pump. About all of the automatics are so high, I'd hate to dish out that much just to use it in dove hunting. I guess i just need to start pumping faster. tucker301 Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 When I was fourteen, I dove hunted with a single barrel 20 ga. I kept the second round in my teeth and I got several doubles. When I was 15, I got my first 870. I won several bets by ripping three rounds through her faster than my buddies could do with there semi-auto Remingtons. Besides, the limit's just 12, right? When I switched to my SBEII, after over 20 years of pumping, I nearly ripped the forearm off the thing after the first shot Finally got re-trained. Liberty or death Jr. Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Every time a flock of ducks, geese, or doves comes over, I can always get my 3 rounds off before they are out of range, but that doesn't mean I hit any of them. Best I've ever done was a double, usually the third round is uneccesary or it goes into bird that needs a little extra help coming down. sonyman74 Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 Well, I always did good but the year before last I got put in a bad spot on a group hunt had was blinded by the sun and could not see the sights so I now use an EOTech and have improved my kills by 2x.
