New owner - no collapsible stock for SuperNova Tactical?

Another new SuperNova owner here. Just wanted to say HI.

I called Mesa Tactical & Knoxx Industries today and they don't have any collapsible stocks available. Though Knoxx Industries did say to keep an eye on their website because next year they'll have a new universal recoil reducing stock that can be used on various shotguns.

Benelli wrote me the following about the collapsible stock shown on their website & in the SuperNova video:

It is not available and will not be now..ATF has banned the importation of any collapsible stock for any gun...due to this the development was halted for the stock...it has not been manufactured.... The video was made before the law was passed....

:(

Anyone have any other ideas regarding collapsible stocks for Benelli?

If the citation to the ATF restriction by Benelli is correct, the simple solution to the problem would appear to be for Benelli to manufacture or license the manufacture of the collapsible stock in the U.S. The stocks would no longer be imported and would be built to Benelli standards. With the current exchange rate, it would probably be less expensive to manufacture the components here anyway.

Benelli has designed some wonderful modular guns. Unfortunately, the company looses much of it's design advantage by failing to allow non LE & military customers to take advantage of the modular design.

This is the only reason why I haven't yet purchased a Benelli shotgun.

The 922® law under which the stock is banned has nothing to do with where the stock is made, it's the status of the shotgun platform itself as an "imported" firearm. 922® details the parts that can be swapped out for US-made parts that would allow the weapon to be considered of domestic manufacture, but the simple addition of a US-made stock would not be enough.

Another option for Benelli would be to petition the Attorney General to reclassify their shotguns with collapsible stocks as "suitable for sporting purposes" which to any knoweldgeable individual they clearly are. Then 922 does not apply.

Unfortunately the current AG is one of many anti second amendment a$$holes in the Bush justice department, and knows less about guns that your average New York City hairdresser, so he'd be unlikely to find per the above.

If John Ashcroft were still the AG it would be a different story.
